Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

I am not someone who often writes online reviews, but for Healthy Paws, I felt I absolutely must! I have had coverage on my sweet little dog for most of the first year of her life. Unfortunately, my little dog I'd hoped was so healthy has had so many (expensive) health issues (knee surgery, eye surgery, digestive problems). Thankfully, Healthy Paws has been there every single step of the way. The coverage has been wonderful and just as promised. The claim process is incredibly easy to use (there's even an App). And Healthy Paws has even personally checked on how my little pup was doing, wishing her well after her surgeries, etc. Of course, we wish we hadn't needed to make any claims at all! But when we needed it (and we sure did), Healthy Paws gave us the financial peace of mind to make decisions that were truly best for our dog. As a military family, I am so glad to know that no matter where we live, we can always find the best care for our pup knowing that Healthy Paws will be there, too.

Healthy Paws has assisted me for the last 3 years in caring for a pet with health issues. I signed my dog up for Health Paws insurance in February 2014. In late March 2014, he had a syncopal event and was diagnosed with cardiac issues. I submitted the claims, thinking that I would have to argue with the insurance company for coverage. I was wrong. Health Paws stood behind their contract and has provided coverage for my dog's medications and treatment for cardiomyopathy for the last 2-3 years (medications are $250/month, quarterly echocardiogram $500, consult with veterinary cardiologist $1200). Then on 11/10/2016, I rushed my dog to the emergency hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured spleen and removal of a 14 lb (!) intra-abdominal lipoma. Over $10,000 total. I submitted the claim to Health Paws on 11/14/2016. They processed my claim and mailed me a check on 11/16/2016 AND then followed up by email to check on how my dog was recovering and assure me that they were there to help with the finances. Healthy Paws has stood behind their contract, their customer service is excellent, they process claims quickly and will work with you to help you provide the necessary documents for claim processing. I am very happy with this insurance - a 100% satisfied customer.

We have a 12+ year old French Bulldog. I began monthly Healthy Paws Insurance when she was about 10 years old. They do not cover pre-existing conditions, and I understood that going in. She had never exhibited breathing issues. Last month her ability to breath properly suddenly deteriorated. We did our research and decided the best and perhaps only option was soft palate laser surgery. It was a very difficult choice and a very stressful week for our old, but tough girl. A week later and she is doing fantastic! Not the choice everyone would make, I'm sure. Almost as fantastic as her recovery has been Healthy Paws. They have covered everything they said they would. To a dollar. WHAT A RELIEF! They are also extremely efficient: claims were processed immediately and checks sent. It's an absolute pleasure to work with an insurance company that does not try to thwart you. A rare breed these days. Highly recommended. I have been recommending them to all my friends that are pet owners.

My little one Lola, a 10 year old Boston Terrier, who I have had since she was 8 weeks old, sadly became almost 100% blind due to cataracts that progressed so rapidly that surgery was our only option to help restore her quality of life. It was a scary decision to make but fortunate enough that I was able to make the right decision to do it because we have insurance with Health Paws! She can see perfectly again!!! Surgery as an option is VERY expensive and many pet owners cannot afford do it on their own if they do not have insurance. Healthy Paws covered 90% of it and with no hassles! Its so easy to submit a claim by uploading a picture of the invoice on my phone and within days I have an answer to the amount they covered and a check in the mail to follow a few days later!
