Expensive premiums, slow reimbursement

I had my first reimbursements this year. First of all I learned that they do not use calendar years for reimbursements but your pet's birthday as the start of a new year so I paid two deductibles in 2017. Also, they were very slow examining my claim and it's been over 5 weeks since they said I would get my reimbursement checks and I still don't have them. I am looking for a more reasonable and customer friendly insurance company.

What a Relief

If ever something happens to my pets, I go into an emotional crisis. Just want them to be better at any cost. But then when the bills pile up a would go into another sort of crisis. A financial one. Now that my boy is insured I am relieved financially and only have to worry about getting him healthy again. As it should be

Not a single complaint!

Before moving my dog to NYC, I was really concerned about the amount of trouble that she would get into. She is a corgi, low to the ground, and an extremely fast eater. I was really worried that she would eat some rotten bite of food on a walk and swallow it before I could stop her. I was also worried that she should get sick more often since there are so many more dogs here than in our home town. I ended up getting Healthy Paws pet insurance hoping it would bring me some peace of mind, and I'm so happy I decided to. The claims are easy to place and the turn around time for the checks is reasonable. I also appreciate how I can go to any vet that I want to without having to worry about whether or not they are "in network". Everytime I have had to place a phone call, their support staff has been helpful, quick, and very friendly. I am very grateful for the peace of mind they have been able up by provide for my pup and I.

I wish I could give more than 10 stars

Over the years, through many illnesses and injuries, Healthy Paws has been there for my dog and my cat. As a veterinary nurse, with every appointment, I recommend getting pet insurance, especially Healthy Paws. My dog would not be able to walk without them. Pet insurance is a lifesaver, literally.

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
