Figo | Pet Insurance Review

FIGO~ Honestly, I have never had pet insurance before but after searching and researching other companies, I have and continue to recommend FIGO to all new pet owners that I know and that I bump into. Figo was there for us when our dog, Boots, tore her right ACL and needed surgery. They worked with the hospital and paid direct to them to eliminate for us the middle step of payment. Friendly, patient, understanding... these are only a few words to describe who Figo is and what hey are really about.

After calling ahead to make sure the test recommended by a veterinarian was one covered, Figo denied the claim. This would have been only for $98 because deductible is $200 and test is $298. This is with over a year and a half of paying the higher premium to have a lower deductible, and this was the first claim in this entire time of having two dogs on the plan. If they deny this small amount to a dedicated client, I dread what they would argue if it was more $ involved such as with an accident or disease. Looking at the rating they have, 7.8, I am not not surprised at this low satisfaction score. I can no longer recommend Figo to clients. I work in training and I volunteer with rescues and shelter clinics with cats and dogs, and I often and asked my experience or opinion on pet insurance. I'm in Chicago and I wanted to support this company being Chicago based. I am very disappointed and sad about how they have handled this and how they disregard the importance of dedication from customers and word of mouth regarding recommendations. I definitely have a bad feeling now for this company, and they have devalued my trust and they have lost it now.

I strongly recommend against this pet insurance, they have denied every single one of my 4 claims so far, $0 YTD. As a new client, this is very disheartening and only speaks to the way insurance is built, they are meant to make money off of premiums and deny as many claims as possible. This company is no different, and will only follow the same tactics. They have so many different codes/reasons for denial. They may seem to be better and more tech savvy than other companies when viewing their website and offerings but don't let this fool you, there is definitely a lack of really caring for your pet and you will end up as just another policy number for them to make money off of. All they will get is bad word of mouth from me moving forward.

First I would like to thank Laura for going above and beyond helping me out with my claim it's because of her and her time to listen that all turned out well. I have a two-year-old Shepherd which I purchase the insurance for about a year ago. He already had a pre-existing condition of seizures due to mild encephalitis. While under the insurance policy he developed IBD and a motility issue. At first my claim was denied saying it was a pre-existing condition. After I submitted all my documentation and a letter from the doctor stating my dog's issue and that it was not a pre-existing condition Figo reopen the case and my claim was paid. Thank you for all your help during this rough time. For anybody looking for pet insurance I highly recommend them
