Policy comparisons against other companies

I have another policy with my older two dogs with a different company. I decided to look for a new company to compare prices. When I found fetch I decided to try them as the price point made more sense. I have in general experienced a lot of differences with the policy itself with things that you would assume would be standard across insurance companies. 1. Pre approvals on quotes ( not just conditions) 2. The length of time it takes to process the claim is very long. 3. When ever I ask a question about the policy I never get a straight answer. Eg. please provide an eg of a supplement that’s recommended by vet that helps a medical condition covered under my policy …as the food is recommended by my vet and apparently not covered… and they won’t provide an example. 4. Yearly deductible is higher than my other dogs. These are all things my other company does with my other dogs. I will likely be considering other insurance companies when the time comes unless these things were addressed unfortunately.

Appalling customer service

So when I moved 10 minutes away, my premiums went up approx $100/month, which while ridiculous, what can you do? I decided to decrease my coverage to make the payment more manageable, as over $300/month for insurance on my 6 year old dog when I haven’t made a claim in years seemed stupid. The payment goes onto my husband’s Credit Card, so I didn’t notice right away that we were being overcharged over $60/month more than what I had been quoted for our changed policy. Of course, I discovered this on a weekend, when the only customer service available is over chat. The person I chatted with, Emma, said she would escalate the situation and I would hear back from them within a couple of business days (which I didn’t). So I call, because the call centre is only open M-F until 6pm ET and speak to someone who says that they will get back to me within 24-48 hours. Which they didn’t. I live on the West Coast, and I have a job, so I don’t have time during the day to call them repeatedly to follow up. I finally hear back from someone 13 DAYS later. Jordan left me a message at 2:40 in the afternoon on a Friday (Pacific time, so 20 minutes before they close for the weekend). Because I’m at work, I was unable to check the message until after 3pm PT. He lets me know that my payment is now $185/month. What??? It was supposed to be $170.76/month, they’ve been charging me $232.23/month, where did $185 come from? And no mention of reimbursing us for the $60+ they’ve been overcharging us for the past 3 months. And I can’t call to ask, because now they are closed. So here we go again. Back to the chat. Which is completely useless because they won’t tell you anything over the chat, just to call during their regular operating hours. What a joke, if my dog didn’t have pre-existing conditions I would change insurance companies in a heartbeat. I might anyways just because how awful they are to deal with.

Raises premiums EXPONENTIALLY once your…

Raises premiums EXPONENTIALLY once your dog is in their mid-range. Fetch needs to review the competitors pricing and match up accordingly. In the last 5 years I have had this insurance, my premium went up from $300 to $1700!! This is six times the original premium and I never even had a claim in the first three years! Over the years they increased, doubled my premium, I never said anything but the most recent increase in premium went up another $700 straight away. $1700 annually plus tax for a $5000 coverage and 80% coverage is extremely low and unacceptable. Other insurance companies cover $10,000 to $20,000 for ~$1200 premium for the same dog. Almost feels like a rip off at this point because they think you cant move. When you call the customer service to talk about the premium, they have an attitude so its pointless. There is no solution outside of just cancelling or continuing to pay really. I would recommend to shop around. I am certainly not going with Fetch if and when I am looking for another insurance provider.

Check your annual renewal for dogs, up 75% - Disgusted

Just got my annual renewal for my dog, I am absolutely disgusted at the increase of 75%. I get that costs go up but there is no way 75% is acceptable. In 4 years I had one claim (last year) for dental cleaning which is part of the plan. I called to see why and they just said "well you can increase your deductible and reimbursement rate. I have used different pet insurances for over 20 years and realize that as the animal get older payments go up, but for a 7 year old small dog 75% is a total ripoff. I will be looking else where as the animal has no preexisting conditions !! Very unimpressed with Fetch !!!!
