Ellie's Ongoing Battle with Soft Tissue Sarcoma
My five year old beagle, Ellie, developed a small bump above her left forelimb knuckle near Halloween last October (2014). I thought it was just a passing bruise or bug bite, until it continued to grow from 1/2 inch to 1 inch in diameter by Christmas. My vet biopsied and diagnosed the bump as a soft tissue Sarcoma and performed the necessary surgery to remove the mass in early February of 2015. Embrace reimbursed the $1200+ claim within three weeks of submission.
The mass has now regrown, and having determined that the cancer has not spread to the lungs, we have scheduled surgery to amputate the left forelimb at the shoulder. Ellie and I are hoping for a happy ending. I thank my Embrace team of health professionals for their timely and continuous support during these difficult times.
