Embrace | Pet Insurance Review

My dog recently had an ear infection, which was not a pre-existing condition and yet Embrace denied the claim. The "reason" cited was that somehow the ear is related to a dermatological condition. The Veterinarian could not believe this bogus reason for denying the claim since an inner ear infection is of course NOT a dermatological condition. If Embrace does not reprocess and pay I will never renew this insurance and plan to address this in my newspaper column. As a consumer advocate, I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but this is ridiculous. Like my Veterinarian, I am incredulous.

So happy I got pet insurance for my new puppy! I bought the extra coverage for wellness stuff, which covered spaying and vaccines, but of course my pup had post-spaying problems - during a weekend, of course - and our visits to the Referral Center (emergency vets) and emergency surgery were covered! If only I'd done this with my previous pup, whose mystery GI infection ended up costing me $8000!

When I got my new puppy I decided it was time to get pet insurance. I didn't ever want to be forced to make health care decisions for my pets based on financial restrictions. I already had Barkley,a 10 year-old Maltese and had considered pet insurance before, but questioned if it was a scam. After researching on-line I chose Embrace because it offered wellness help as well. Unfortunately, I got to test the insurance a couple of months after I got it when my older dog had serious effects from some degenerative discs in his neck. It gave me great comfort in a stressful time to know that I could do whatever was best for him and have some financial help with the bills.

My beautiful 3-year old tabby, Bella, was injured recently. I can home from work to find that her entire forehead was scalped off and her nose and eyes were swollen. I suspect she was grazed by a car on the road in front of my house. I rushed her to the emergency room where she was cared for well. She has recovered completely. My bill was almost $1,000 for the care and overnight stay. I am so thankful that I have Embrace Pet Insurance. Not having to worry about paying a bill like this on my own takes some of the stress out of a very stressful situation.
