GREAT customer service, pay to play
We've been with Embrace for 2 years, but just recently started to rely on them heavily for the sudden onset of our dog's condition. For companies with no physical presence such as Embrace, the most important aspect is the customer service call center. Every single time I have called them, the representatives' attitudes are amazing, and they do everything in their power to help us. Of course, they can help you best when you've done your homework. Make sure to read the specifics of your policy and all of the rules before anything major happens so that you know what is covered and what is not.
This is the first pet insurance company we've worked with, and we're very glad it was Embrace and not some other company! Our 5-year-old Golden Retriever mix was diagnosed with granulomatous meningoencephalitis (GME). Extremely rare for big dog breeds like his, but it does happen. It was heartbreaking to see him go through it, but he is improving with all kinds of medical/alternative care thanks to the support from Embrace. Not sure how the insurance rates compare to other pet insurance companies, but it isn't cheap. For us, it has been more than worth it to pay what we pay. You won't know if you need it until the day comes that you really need it. As is the case with all insurance, right?

Extremely disappointed with service
In early July 2017 I submitted a claim for reimbursement for a vet visit. Despite the fact that my vet faxed over medical records to Embrace, several weeks passed before I received notice that my claim was on hold because they hadn't received the vets records. I called my vet, who confirmed that they had a date/time stamped fax showing they sent the records to Embrace. I called Embrace, spoke to 3 different people, was on hold for a lengthy period of time, and was inadvertently hung up on, resulting in starting the process all over again, only to find out that they did, in fact, have my records, but they misplaced them. My vet sent the records over again, just for good measure. Weeks passed again and there was still no decision on the case until today, nearly 2 months after filing the original claim. I was notified that NONE of the medical expenses (outside of Wellness) would be covered, and was then sent a lengthy email explaining that my pet is essentially excluded from receiving coverage permanently for several conditions. At this point, I've been paying my premium for nearly a year, only to discover, the very first time I submit a claim for a vet bill, that I'm out of luck. I called to inquire and complain, and the Embrace staff were completely unhelpful. It's very convenient for an insurance company to take money for premiums that go unused, but in a moment of actual coverage need, they've completely mishandled the situation and are now refusing coverage.
