I was reluctant to get pet insurance but realized my dog is only getting older and will not put a price on my dog’s life. I had little money for premiums so I setup what I would call a ‘catastrophic’ policy- with a $1,000 deductible and 20% copay. And hoped I wouldn’t have insurance hassles.
A year later my 14 yr old dog started limping and progressively not walking. It was difficult to go through the progressive diagnostics to get to the proper diagnosis and that was well over a month.
Just when a diagnosis and recommended treatment are finally achieved a pandemic hits. There are few AAHA Hospitals with the expertise and technology available for an MRI and hemilaminectomy to begin with. And now many were closed due to COVID-19. It was a struggle to find one, find one open and as we all know you can’t immediately get Veterinary care. Ultimately I drove to another state.
Despite all this Embrace proved they weren’t a hassle or haggle. And that was a lifeline during a very difficult time.
My claims greatly exceeded my premiums and when it was time for renewal I thought they would drop me. That didn’t happen.

BUYER BEWARE! This company is a fraud
I bought this insurance as it was endorsed by USAA, but since then my opinion of USAA has dropped, but after 40 year membership with USAA it is a shock. Embrace took my lump sum premium with no complaint, but as soon as I started filing claims on my sweet little LP they became very uncooperative. I filed three claims, they contacted my vet for records, she submitted them (MORE THAN ONCE). They put those claims on hold because they needed medical records. ARGH. I finally asked Vet to send me LPs records so I could deal with Embrace and not bother her. VET has other things to do but continue to send my dogs records over and over and over again. I copied LPs entire record from Day she was found as stray on street in Killeen to last day Dr R laid hands on LP along with three new claims and re submitting first claims. Now they continue to request medical records. They will gladly complete claims once they get medical records. THEY HAVE THE FRICKING MEDICAL RECORDS. I cancelled my policy but they continue to send me emails requesting medical records. They have never intended to pay ANYTHING. This company is a fraud. Actually I probably should have a total refund of my premium. This company should be reprimanded and all premiums paid refunded to all who paid.

Great company
I got my dog on Embrace's policy when she was really young, I think less than 1 yr old. So, there weren't too many things wrong with her, and I expected a policy with zero pre-existing conditions! However, like literally a day or two before I finalized the policy purchase, she fractured her tooth, and that went on the policy as a pre-existing condition. She also got noted to have two temp ones and another permanent one, which I was surprised to see, but ultimately did not appeal because I felt they were reasonable (two temps were for ear infection and diarrhea, perm was adverse reaction to sutures, she had some issues following her spay). If you're reading this and considering pet insurance, the best advice I can give you is to get it as early as possible. Despite her few pre-existing conditions, my dog ended up needed ACL surgery on her right rear knee, costing us $4000. Embrace covered it all, and we only ended up paying about $400 out of pocket since we used up most of her deductible by then. This one surgery "paid" for like 3 years of coverage from Embrace, and we're expecting that she'll likely need surgery again for her other knee. Be mindful that the longer you wait, the most issues may pop up and end up on the pre-existing conditions list, and after that those issues, and I think issues that stem from those conditions, will never be covered again. The only thing I wish I did different was get Embrace for my dog as soon as I got her at 8 weeks.
