Has anyone heard of an "UNDIAGNOSED pre-existing" condition?
If I could put a minus star on this company I would. I insured my dogs with no pre-existing conditions (except for seasonal allergies for our boy dog) and they were receiving excellent and regular vet care from the top rated vet practice in our city. My girl got a ruptured disc and had to have very expensive surgery, along with medications and special equipment post surgery. We were so relieved that we had pet insurance. You could have scraped us off the floor when our claim was denied. They said our dog had an "UNDIAGNOSED pre-existing condition" Our vet couldn't believe it. She sent letters, e-mailed and called multiple times telling them and proving that this was not something that could be considered pre-existing. We appealed three times and each time they denied it. Be aware. . .they do not have Vets in their company to review medical information. So the people that are looking these claims are just everyday people off the street with no experience working with animals. My dog's breed is not known for having this condition. We took it to our State Insurance Board. After reviewing the information, they agreed with us that the condition could not have been pre-existing. Although they could not force Embrace to pay in our state, the investigator recommended it and the company again said no. The investigator recommended that we sue, and we probably will do just that, because we have compelling evidence that our dog did not have a pre-existing condition. If you decide to use Embrace after this review, just know that they will worm out of every opportunity to pay for necessary and life saving surgery. Then you, after paying for insurance, will be left with a big bill that may take you a long time to pay off. It is hard to make the choice between saving your pet and knowing that you will be incurring debt that may affect you for a long time, even though you did the right thing and bought pet insurance that you thought would protect you. To be honest, it is my goal to tell every person about our awful experience with Embrace, so that they don't fall into the same trap that we did.
