Untrustworthy and Obnoxious
From my experience they will do whatever it takes to avoid covering what they should, no matter how small. Wasted hours on the phone talking to people lying about words I'm reading in their emails.
They will ignore what the vet writes and manufacture their own diagnosis that is literally the opposite of what the vet said. They will intentionally misinterpret statements to fit whatever narrative they want.
From what I can tell, they're simply a scam.
Deeply regret giving this company any money.
Edit: Embrace's reply to my comment: "We want to be upfront about our coverage and the exclusion of pre-existing conditions which is defined and agreed upon in our terms and conditions as"
What they DON'T TELL YOU is if you take your pet in for something that is covered, like an injury, and it shares one single SYMPTOM with something that is excluded, EMBRACE will diagnose your pet with a condition that is not covered. In my case their diagnosis was the exact opposite of what the vet listed.
If your pet cuts their paw and limps temporarily as a result, they can and will claim it's a skeletal or muscular condition. This means for the rest of your pet's life they will not be covered for any condition that could cause a limp.
Hopefully final edit: I wonder how many of the "unqualified 8%" of claims were qualified until Embrace put on their doctor's hat and fabricated a diagnosis from thin air? When they got tired of lying about my dog's diagnosis they smugly said that if the dog wasn't lame, then they couldn't cover the vet visit anyway, since it was a healthy dog! Not realizing what they'd just admitted to, I jumped at the chance.
I told them sure, I'd gladly pay for the visit if it meant they couldn't use it against her for the rest of her life! They then went into backtrack mode immediately. Cancelled my policy. This company is disgusting. For the first time in my life I am disappointed in USAA for recommending these predators to me.
