Embrace should review their policies and prcedures
i can honestly say that Embrace is one of the better insurance plans for our animals. I have always been a loyal member of the Embrace family since around 2012.
My Deena and Lady were covered until 2021 when Deena passed due to old age.
Even though I missed my pets so much, I waited until 6/20/2022 to get two adorable Lab pups (male siblings). Even before I brought them home I was on the phone with Embrace to cover them. Max has never had a problem, just wellness, etc. On the other hand, Duke has behaved like a typical toddler. Everything goes in his mouth, and unfortunately, sometimes down his stomach. Twice in one year, this happened. Embrace paid for the operation to save his life, but reneged on paying the remaining funds in his policy to help me pay the large surgery bill, citing (fine print) they do not cover two anesthetized procedures in one policy year. Had Duke not had the surgery to save his life, he would have died within hours. The worst snow storm in Maine, I had to transport him 3 hours away to a facility which could do the surgery. The surgical team was called in. He spent two days in the hospital. I was told by Embrace that this was a pre-condition. Not so, he is still in the adolescence stage and while I have watched him like a hawk and have put basket muzzles on both him and Max (one will pull off the other-otherwise), we have not had a recurrence.
I was extremely disappointed with Embrace for their decision. Almost $4000 was left in his policy for the year and this would have helped me financially to finish paying the surgical bill which was close to $9000. I have referred so many people to Embrace because I have been so comfortable in the past with their care, but really this time, I feel so betrayed with this decision that I feel was made by a person that did not understand the life and death issue at stake.
My little Duke is just so full of life and it is a joy seeing them running, playing, swimming (we live on lake). Yes I shall always be super careful with him. I feel as he ages, he will outgrow his impulse to swallow things.
I really thought of leaving Embrace, but thought of all the good service over the years that Embrace has given me and my pets. I do hope they reconsider my Duke's expense. I give them a 5 for past service, but a 3 for Duke's attention.
