I was hoping I could use it to cover…

I was hoping I could use it to cover the medical bills of when I took Bora (my cat) to the vet last Monday but then it came that the insurance would only start working until Dec 15th. It feels like a bait if you don't say out front when the insurance will start working, now I've an insane bill to cover (she caught a respiratory infection that thank god she is 90% out of it) _AND_ also covering the insurance.

Their services have declined

Their services have declined. I've been a member for years, I'm on week six of waiting for my claim, was just told by customer service to "give it another week or so", it's time to shop around for other insurance. It should not take this long to reimburse customers who pay on time, every single month.

If you are ok with 40% rate increases

I did the research 2 years ago when we rescued our girl Magnolia. This company seemed the right way to go. Well, our 2nd year with them and our premium is increasing 40% a month! Maggie is 2, we got the insurance when we got her at a little over 2 months old. Yes I live in NY an expensive place, but a mixed breed that's only 2yrs old shouldn't have such a high rate hike. They say breed, age and where you live are the reasons for hike...so it's just because we are in NY we have to pay almost double, because it sure isn't about her age or breed. At this rate, by the time she is 5 I will be paying $500 a month for insurance? Their solution is to raise my deductible or lower my reimbursement rate. How is that a solution? I will just be paying either way. The number of people in NY with pets all with a 40% rate increase, is criminal.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
