Thank you

My dog just went through a serious illness and pet partners is very quick to respond to the claim. But what really surprised me was when I got a get well card with a picture of breed appropriate dog on the outside. It was so wonderful it was handwritten just lovely and perked me up. Thank you so much pet partners

Changes in coverage more exclusions higher premium

My dog just turned 6. He has had this insurance since he was 6 months old. They just sent me the renewal forms and have renamed all the plans. The exclusions have increased and the premium has increased. Even user the current coverage they reimbursed me less than in previous years. In the past they have done well to process my claims and I thought they were doing a good job.

Mixed experience

I've had mixed experience with PetPartners over the years (I got it for my dog when he was 8 months old and he just died at 10 years). Whenever I had a claim they paid it promptly, and it was easy to file online since I own a scanner. Generally it was easy to figure out exactly how much they'd pay you back--80-20 with a $125 deductible--although there were a few times with the wellness part of the plan that I didn't feel that they reimbursed as they should; my vet is NOT expensive and sometimes they wouldn't cover her basic charges. That being said, during my dog's final bout with cancer they were wonderful, even paying for his pt without a blink. They say to expect it to take 30 days for reimbursement, and it really will take the FULL 30 days. My main complaint is that the insurance cost skyrockets once the dog turns 7; I went from $60-80 per month to $180 pm by the end. That makes it really seem like a scam since I made almost no claims on them until the final year of my dog's life; it was as if they wanted me to cancel my insurance so that they'd never need to make a pay out. I've said "yes" here to the recommendation, but it would be with qualifications and I'm currently searching for a new insurer in case I get a puppy.

Best Insurance

I have had this insurance for 9 years and I could not be happier. The customer service is both refreshing and prompt. Every claim I have submitted has been immediately acknowledged and the turn around time is less than stated. I just got another puppy and added insurance on him. Here's to another long term relationship :)

Beware of per-incident plans!!

Our beloved Cattle Dog Caper was diagnosed with bladder cancer. The cost for chemotherapy added up quickly, and Pet Partners would not pay for any alternative treatment (Caper got acupuncture every week). The maximum amount insured was $13,000. However, since the per-incident amount was only $5,000, Pet Partners (AKC) was not willing to cover the continued treatment for Caper. Although we still had $8,000 (!!) to cover medical expenses, we were not able to use a single cent for Caper. Pet Partner told me that they would "gladly" pay for the treatment if Caper broke a leg, but not for his cancer treatment. I wished I would have known all that before I let them talk me into a - very expensive - health insurance for my sweet companion. Stay away fom AKC - Pet Partners..!!!
