How to Save Money at Williams-Sebby Veterinary Clinic & Pet Resort

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I’ve brought many pets here over the years and I am consistently impressed! The prices are the most reasonable (yes, even on operations!) and the service is unmatched. 10/10 do recommend. Kitten pic for tax.

Very unprofessional staff, massively overpriced and they don't want to talk to you about your concerns. This operation is close to my home and very attractive as a facility, but don’t fall for it! I had a horrific experience with them. They offer numerous services. I was happy with my current vet, Tickle-Blagg, but I noticed that Williams offered grooming, something I was interested in for my three dogs.I called to make an appointment for one of my dogs and they asked for the vet info for all of my dogs as a requirement for service. I provided that and showed up for my appointment with my dog. They told me there was no appointment and that incidentally, the groomer had a family emergency and wasn't there anyway. They said as long as I was there my dog needed some updated shots and they were nice enough to add nail clipping to my order. The vets were nice but the wait was considerable, especially in light of their failure to inform me re the groomer and blame it on me (they had all of the information I had provided by phone but didn't have a record of the reason for my call: grooming...?). Eventually, the groomer returned a month or so later and I made yet another appt for grooming. I brought my fully vaxxed and healthy dog in at 9am or so and was told to pick him up about 5pm or when they called. They mentioned that for the safety of the facility some shots might be required. They called about 3pm and I arrived to pick up my dog. They said they would get him. Two hours later after asking several times, they announced my dog was ready and acted like it was somehow my fault it took so long (go figure?). They presented me with the bill: over $700.00 for grooming and about 4 pages of shots!!! I was the last customer and they were closing so I didn't have a chance to discuss the outrageous bill. I paid and called the next day to talk to the manager, they said the manager was not available and I left a message. No-one ever called. I called again. Again, no return call. Great service, eh?

my sweet baby honey has been a client of this vet for all of her 16 years. we love them and i would trust them with all my animals’ health needs. they’re very prompt, and if you have to wait a long time in their lobby, it’s because the vets there are taking their time with other babies, just like they will for you. i’ve never had a problem being seen on short notice, either.

I can’t say enough good about this clinic. I have been bringing my pets here for 9 years. . They have done everything from an emergency surgery on my dog to maintenance medication for our cats. Online pharmacy is great for our medications I tend to forget to reorder. *We drive from New Braunfels just to see our favorite vets.

As long as I’ve had my dog, we’ve been coming into Williams Sebby. They take amazing care of my animal and I each time. We have never gone without at this vet. If I need prescriptions the day of, they get it in no time at all for me considering they are always full and busy of animals needing help. Need an emergency appointment the day of? They are there for you with all their resources to get you in. The staff is consistent, friendly and helpful every time. As well as very knowledgeable. I wouldn’t recommend any other vet but this one to anyone else in the area.
