How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Potranco Veterinary Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I’ve only been here a few times but Ava at the front desk has always been extremely helpful and very courteous. Nobody is ever excited to go to the vet so the first person you meet sets the vibe and she has always been excellent. 10/10, A++.

They accommodated my pup for vaccines without an appointment. The veterinarian and staff were fantastic, addressing all my questions and concerns. I highly recommend them for anyone on the west side of San Antonio!

This was one of the most upsetting and unprofessional veterinary experiences I’ve ever had. I’m a first-time kitten mom, doing my best to make sure my baby is well cared for, and I came in with a lot of questions. Instead of being supported, I was met with rudeness and passive-aggressive comments from the vet tech. She seemed visibly annoyed with me simply for asking questions — something any responsible pet owner should feel safe doing. She even contradicted herself, saying one thing and doing another, and overall made me feel like I was being a burden. It felt like she was more interested in holding a cute young kitten and upselling services than actually offering proper care and compassion. To make things worse, I was told I could be present while my kitten had his vitals and measurements taken — but then they took him away from me without explanation. My kitten is being raised as an emotional support animal, and we are still developing our bond. Being separated in a strange, loud environment while unfamiliar people surrounded him, loudly commenting on how “cute” he was, clearly overwhelmed him. I could hear him crying through the door. It was heartbreaking for me as a new pet parent, and distressing for him. It turned what should’ve been a routine checkup into a traumatizing experience for both of us. Throughout all of this, not a single staff member offered any empathy or support. I left the appointment feeling emotional and shaken, and the front desk staff were just as cold and disconnected. To add to the frustration, the communication across the clinic was incredibly disorganized — I was called the day after my appointment and told I needed to pick up a prescription… which I had already picked up the day before. And if all that wasn’t enough, I’ve tried to get in contact with the clinic manager to share my concerns — but no one has followed up. When I called to check in, the receptionist told me the manager “just has a lot going on.” Honestly, shouldn’t following up with concerned clients be one of the manager’s top priorities? It’s incredibly disappointing to feel like your concerns are being brushed aside or simply ignored. The only redeeming factor of this clinic is Dr. Sue Brown, who was compassionate, knowledgeable with my resident cat, and clearly cares about both animals and their people. Sadly, she’s only a relief vet and is rarely there — otherwise, I might have considered giving the clinic another chance. As it stands, I’ll be taking my kitten elsewhere. This clinic is disorganized, unprofessional, and completely lacking in the empathy and care that should be at the heart of veterinary medicine. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone — especially not fellow new pet parents.

Was able to get my French bulldog in within the hour to have her skin looked at and the vet and staff up there were awesome and the place was not crowded and I was in and out couldn't have asked for anything more to be completely honest. Will definitely be taking my pup back up there whenever she needs to which unfortunately seems to be more than my wallet likes to but that's the life of a Frenchie's owner I guess lol. Thanks for everything.

Pretty good it helps with animals and even does small scale pet grooming stuff like trimming nails or such just don't ask for haircuts or anything the only reason they do this is cuz they are in direct connection with Ellison drive animal hospital which does boarding and other such stuff but apparently it's part of a small scale business chain so At least make sure you're at a place that does this I'm not entirely sure if they do things like this here I just heard that they do from someone with a elderly pug named Betty or something like that who Daisy allowed her to sniff which is nice also the pug doesn't like being sniffed either so it was good they got along old photo from when she was 13 or so years old we don't have her puppy photos since they are on our cricket LG from the year 2007 it was originally created in the year 2003 and transferring data online or through the cables didn't exist back then and micro SD was for handheld gaming consoles and your pager or the predecessor to tablets where you had a Even further miniaturized version of a computer deck so I wasn't able to transfer them over or simply send them to myself through text as the cricket LG existed when texting but not text conversations existed so you couldn't send or receive images or emojis but Daisy is doing fine and good right now
