How to Save Money at My Pet's Vet Wilderness Oaks
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My Pet’s Place is a wonderful choice for my Walter. There is less chaos than other boarding options which makes him less anxious. They send daily photos & provide updates. Also, good to know, they offer military discount.

We needed boarding for both frenchies and they were able to accommodate us on short notice. The staff were very helpful and thoroughly explained the cost and service they provide for the duration of our pets' stay. Our pet were taken care of and they provided daily updates on our pets' well being and photos to show us how they were doing during playtime and also made new friends. I would recommend this place, just like it was recommended to us.

Wonderful first experience at My Pets Vet Animal Hospital today. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed and greeted by the front staff. I had called in the morning of and was able to secure a last-minute office visit for my female senior dog. I was in desperate need of her allergy medication and was unable to be seen by her usual veterinary doctor due to their limited scheduling. Dr. Pearson was extremely thorough with my pets health history, including her diet. I was impressed by Dr. Pearson's concerns as well as alternatives for treatment options for her skin allergies. I am definitely returning and switching over from her usual veterinary doctor. Office was clean, location was perfect, and highly professional staff. His prices were also affordable, which was a huge plus.

I’m impressed with the care that Dr. Larry Pearson has provided for my dog. She has suffered from skin allergies for the past 4 years and was prescribed medication over the years prior to visiting him at My Pet’s Vet in Wilderness Oaks. My experience with the medication was a quick temporary relief, refills were expensive, and I was concerned she was having frequent flare ups which were not food related. On my first visit with Dr. Pearson, he took the time to explain what was happening and options that would be best for my dog. I chose the injection that would help build her immunity to allergens. This option would be less costly and reduce flare ups as her body built her own immunity to the allergens requiring less treatment and visits to the vet. Her skin has improved, she’s not miserable, and her fur is growing back! This was the best option and I am grateful for Dr. Pearson’s expertise and pleasant experience. The staff have all been very nice and professional over the phone and in person. I highly recommend Dr. Pearson and his office staff! My travel is worth coming here!

A few days ago, I took my dog in for his first visit at My Pet’s Vet due to allergies. The ladies at the front desk, as well as Dr. Pearson and Leslie, were so kind and patient with us! My dog is a big baby and a bit of a scaredy-cat, but Dr. Pearson and Leslie took the time to try to help him feel comfortable by getting down on the floor to pet and examine him. They even let me walk him to the back so that he could be weighed. I really appreciate their kindness and effort. I also want to mention how efficient the visit was—we were seen right away. We checked in at the front desk, were promptly taken to a room, and quickly met with the vet assistant and veterinarian. They also took the time to go over different treatment options for my dog’s allergies, explaining the pros and cons of each along with the associated costs. If you’re looking for a new vet, I definitely recommend checking them out!
