How to Save on Veterinary Costs at CityVet | Bulverde (Formerly River City)
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Wow. Do not bring your pets here. They did not tell us our 9mo old service dog would be treated in a room in back for a simple ear infection. Obviously something shady happening if it's all behind closed doors. We never even saw the DVM with our dog! They told us he was going in the back room for his weight and temperature and then never brought him back out. When we asked for our dog back the tech said sharply "your dog is fine, he's in a kennel in the back". Excuse me!? That would have been fine if it weren't our initial visit and someone would have told us that he'd be in a soundproof room out of our sight the whole time. That would be fine if I knew them. How weird that they wouldn't give us our dog back right away or let us see him! How can you know what they actually do to them? This is a service dog; I need to be aware of how he is being handled and what he needs to work on in all aspects of life. The young tech was rude. This is a money making conglomerate. What is happening to veterinary care? No thanks. Reply: I was not distressed. I was ripped off. I did express my concerns that the vet never saw the dog and the techs performed a 2 second ear cleaning in front of us for $50. My issue is that you never told us the dog would be away from us on our first visit and when I asked for him back there was hesitation and we were treated like we were being demanding or weird somehow. Some vets are not gentle, you cannot just tell someone you're taking their dog back for a weight/temp and then keep them in a kennel for the rest of the exam. I doubt the vet even saw him. All co owners and affiliates of the dog have been notified as well as the texas board of veterinary medicine.

Called today and was face to face with staff in two hours! Everyone was kind start to finish, very knowledgeable, and patient with all my questions. My little dog is extremely shy and had nerves going in, but when they brought her back from her exam she was her regular care free self. I think that says a lot about how well they care for animals here! Wish I remembered everyone's name to thank each one but can't! I do know we'll be back. Thank you CityVet 🙏

Everytime I've had to bring my pups in they've been attentive, reliable, knowledgeable, and empathetic. They genuinely care about your fur babies and have their best interests in mind. Dr. Ainsley has preformed surgery on my elderly dog to have all of her teeth removed and did wonderfully. My dog has recovered extremely well and her quality of life has IMMENSELY improved (she even tries to eat my other dogs hard food and chew on his bones when no one is looking).

My fiancé and I took our lab puppy- a show dog and service dog in for a yeast infection in both ears. Nice vet except we never saw the vet with our dog together. Rude staff, crazy prices & unnecessary upcharging. The new wave of veterinary medicine right here. Not recommended if you care about your pet
