How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I rushed my cat in because she was struggling to breathe and felt rest assured when they came running out to get her when we arrived after a frantic phone call. The ER doc seemed very invested and the whole team asked a lot of questions and seemed concerned. I felt confident in their care of my baby girl, and was able to call each morning and get an overnight report. The internist who took over care after my baby was stabilized was thorough and very invested is find out the root cause of the problem. They cared for my cat in intensive care for 4 days until she was well enough to come home. If I had one concern it would be for the front desk staff. I could not get any answer to my calls for 2 days running. There are on average 4 people on the front desk but my attempts just kept ringing. Not really sure why that is. The day I rushed her in, my call was answered quickly but after that, I couldn’t even reach someone to be placed on hold. Very concerning if that had been my initial call. Also, when I went into the hospital the staff on the front desk were not very attentive and I often had to get their attention away from their personal conversations. Overall, the care my cat received by patient care staff (doctors, nurses, techs) was the best and well worth the high cost in my opinion. I would definitely trust the staff with my animals again and highly recommend.

Blue Pearl was a godsend. Dr. Strey and the Critical Care and Surgery teams took amazing care of my senior kitty when he suddenly took ill, they communicated constantly with me, included me in the decision-making process for his treatment, the front desk folks kept me apprised of charges and gave me accurate estimates of future ones as his treatment plan changed, and everyone made me feel like they had the situation under control (much needed after my previous vet fumbled a lot of his care). Dr. Strey was great - she was very clear about what she was thinking, never overpromised anything, gave me options and answered all my questions patiently. The entire Blue Pearl team can't be beat, in my opinion, for quality of care for both pet and pet parent.

My dog Dunder got hit by a car Friday. He's about 12 years old, and thanks to the wonderful people at BluePearl he'll get to have more years with me. BluePearl was great and they gave my old boy the help he needed. Now he's home with me safe and sound lying in his favorite spot.

My little Daphne is under the care of neurologist Dr. Wolfe and internal medicine Dr. Taylor. Little Daphne has a chronic neurological condition that has to be managed as well as megaesophagus which presents more challenges. Dr. Wolfe was our initial visit, and she put a lot of effort and thought into designing a treatment plan for Daphne's unique needs. Dr. Taylor has come on board to help manage her condition, and the two work together to decide what is best. Daphne isn't a typical case, so I feel very grateful to have such a caring team treating her. They truly care and that means a lot. The techs are great too and everyone loves my little fluff ball and treats her like a princess. I'm extremely happy with the service I get from Blue Pearl. I highly recommend their specialists to anyone looking for the best care for their pet.

No one ever wants to come to an emergency pet hospital. If you do have to go to one, you want to make sure it's one that you can trust. My dog, Bailey, was injured, and I came to BluePearl. They were so compassionate, so concerned, and truly took the time to put me at ease and ensure Bailey had the best possible diagnostics and treatment plan. Bailey is fortunate that Dr. Kristin White was available to see him, as she was terrific. Additionally, at the front desk, Kierstyn assisted with our check-in and check-out. The front desk staff are often not recognized for the imports that they bring to the organization. They are the first contact with the customer. Just like Dr White, Kierstyn put us at ease with a calm, compassionate, and professional tone. Thank you all for taking such great care of my Baily!
