How to Save Money at Pet Health Hub ~ Community Pet Outreach
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Came in after my dog had been limping after our family vacation. Was able to schedule an appointment later in the day which was great cause of my work schedule. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, very thorough and knowledgeable. Savannah was our vet tech and she is fantastic. Can’t say enough about Dr. Appel she was kind and took excellent care of my sweet pup! Will definitely keep coming back for all my future pet needs. Pricing is extremely reasonable and affordable. Now we’re on the road to recovery with pain meds, anti-inflammatories and strict rest. Thanks again to Dr. Appel and then entire staff for taking such wonderful of my Tucker!

They were so kind and patient with my big Pitbull rescue Bentley. Only thing they need to do is train the girl working in the front she couldn't get Bentley's weight she seemed scared and she needs to be a little bit more kind. My Bentley has severe anxiety and I was trying to check out she seemed to be annoyed with the situation. I stated I'd have to put him (Bentley) in the car before paying my service bill. So I kindly handed her my debit card and she looked at me and left it sitting on an edge where another customer could see my card information. Customer looked in disbelief as to how the girl at the front treated me. Other then that the vet tech was soooo nice and extremely amazing, Melissa the Vet was kind and listened to Bentley's needs.

I came in immediately after being told via phone it was an urgent matter I was experiencing with my dog just to sit in a room for over 2 hours before any treatments or plans were made. Dr. Nokes had the absolute worst bed side manner and was bluntly rude and inconsiderate of the matter at hand. She had me in tears. She gave me a synopsis of two options and basically in lack of better terms left it at damned if you damned if you don’t. They took labs and sent them out to get results. I get a call a day later and they told me some of his results were elevated and recommended bringing him back in for another round of testing. I take him in immediately that day to retest him. (Was told numerous different prices) They call back 24 hours later - and said his results were elevated again and recommended me to take my dog into the emergency asap. I take him into another companies ER as community pet outreach does not offer this service to find out the results community pet out reach gave me were inaccurate and false. They did not follow the poison controls guidelines knowing I had a case open. Not to mention their third party out of office call center told me to call poison control- had to pay 100 dollars just for them to tell me to go to the vet. I am left upset, out a significant amount of money unnecessarily spent there, and upset knowing they are doing this to others. They had me in a complete panic state of mind thinking something was severly wrong. I do not recommend anyone to bring their pets here. These people do not care about you or your animals. All they care about is collecting the next dollar. This exact scenario happened to my sister and after comparing stories it left me livid. It’s not right. The owners need to get a hold of this matter. This place use to be so amazing but has went down the drain. Go look on the city of Lewisville Facebook page and read the horror stories. So sad. The only positive outcome here is my dog is okay.

I was only 6 minutes late because I-35 completely shut down, a semi literally caught on fire. Despite explaining the situation, they refused to see my sick dog and told me to come back over two hours later. I live more than an hour away. Any vet with an ounce of compassion would’ve made an exception for a sick animal under those circumstances. Extremely unprofessional, and completely pathetic.
