How to Save Money at Fur & Feather Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Luper and Dr Pilgrim are the best vets I’ve ever had. I was referred to them by a friend when my senior dog, Rico (shepherd mix pictured) had some health issues that two other vets could not help me resolve. I was so frustrated with the lack of care and how my other vet dismissed his symptoms. I had the complete opposite experience here. Fur & Feather REALLY take their time with new patients, So if your dog is shy or skittish, this is a fantastic clinic for you. I love that they are a fear – free facility, and they do everything with your pet’s comfort and ease in mind. My old vet spent maybe 5 min in the room with my dog. Fur & Feather visits can be 45min-1 hour. They don’t just treat you like a number. You can tell they really care. They have a good blend of eastern and western approaches to veterinary care which, as someone who takes a more holistic approach in my own health, I really appreciate for my dog as well. They unfortunately discovered that Rico had oral cancer, and there were no medical interventions that could extend his life, so I ended up having to put him down. They were so kind and caring during that entire process. The vet techs called me to check in multiple times. Toward the end, I had to take him to a 24 hour vet care one night when he was having bloody diarrhea. The next morning, before I even had a chance to reach out to Fur & Feather, they had already called me to check in since they had received the vet records from the emergency vet the night before. I have never had a vet take such a proactive approach like this. I adopted a new dog (Simba, Pomeranian pictured) and just took him in today for an appointment to establish care and check on a few things. The vet techs were genuinely so excited to see us and they all wanted to come meet my new dog. I was so touched by this. They REALLY care and I wish I would have found them sooner for my senior dog Rico, but I’m happy knowing Simba will be under their care for most of his life. Now if only I could find the human doctor equivalent of Fur & Feather!! 😂

Fur & Feather is a fantastic veterinary practice, and Dr. Luper is a phenomenal veterinarian. The clinic is always clean, welcoming, and smells good. The entire team is friendly, professional, and provides excellent service. They truly treat pets like family, with plenty of love, attention, and belly rubs. Communication is outstanding, they respond promptly to calls and emails, clearly explain what your pet needs, and provide a transparent understanding of costs before moving forward. Our dog absolutely loved visiting Fur & Feather. Her tail would start wagging the moment we pulled into the parking lot. Dr. Luper is a clinically strong veterinarian who combines medical expertise with genuine compassion. I highly recommend Dr. Luper and her entire team to anyone looking for trustworthy, high-quality veterinary care.

I’ve been coming to F&F for about three months now, and it’s truly been a wonderful experience. When I first started looking for a vet, I came across quite a few places with questionable practices, so I was a bit hesitant. But from day one, the team at F&F was incredibly patient and welcoming. They took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly—never rushed, never pushy—and made me feel completely at ease. What stood out most was how much effort they put into making my puppy feel comfortable. They literally got down on the floor to play with him, which made such a difference in how he responded to the visit. I also love how fun and creative they are with their puppy pictures and office videos—they’re not only hilarious but genuinely heartwarming. You can tell they care.

HUGE thank you Dr. Luper for taking such good care of my newest (oopsie) addition... Vanya aka street tramp/lady...I had no idea how she would respond to vet treatment, but she did so good with the gentle approach & Fear Free treatment by everyone! So glad she wasn't preggo & now you've made sure she'll never have to be!! She left Fur & Feather a little drowsy after her surgery but with her tail wagging!
