Ever since we moved to Bryan three years ago, Amanda and her staff at Waggie Pet Zone have always provided excellent boarding services for our pets. But during the last boarding stay, the staff went above and beyond expectations caring for our dog. The staff cared for our dog like he was their own. Our sweet dog couldn’t have been in better care until we returned. I am a customer for life!

I started bringing my puppy to the puppy socialization classes at WPZ as soon as she had finished her puppy vaccines, so she was 4 months old. I was told that it was okay for her to go because she is a small breed dog that only weighs 9lbs and their concern was that they wanted all the puppies to be about the same size. I was pretty disappointed when it turned out that the only other puppies there were either more than double or almost triple my puppy’s size. My puppy is skittish around strangers, both human and canine. I was bringing her so that she could learn how to interact with dogs she didn’t know at her own pace. Because of how dogs play, and because she was the smallest one, she repeatedly got run over, flipped onto her back under 2 other large puppies and stepped on. These were not the positive interactions I wanted her to have, so when she ran to me for protection, I would pick her up, or use my hands to hold the other puppies back so she could get to her feet. This seemed to annoy the trainer, Amanda who instructed me not to protect her and instead to move away from her when she ran to me. The last time, she told me I was interfering with their play and I should just pick my puppy up since I wasn’t letting them work it out themselves. I informed her that I absolutely would pick my puppy up whenever I felt it was necessary and that I was confident what I was doing would work as I had already seen progress between classes. I showed up today for another socialization class and Amanda informed me that all of a sudden, my puppy was too old to keep coming. That I could stay for this last socialization class but then I’d have to move to an obedience class. My puppy is not done being socialized to strangers. I had been planning on bringing both her and my other dog (who is very well socialized) to the obedience classes next month, but I felt like my puppy still needed more time in the puppy group too. There is absolutely no reason my puppy could not continue to attend. She is not a danger to the other puppies because she is the smallest and is not aggressive, she is timid. The only reason I can think of to tell me she could no longer attend is because Amanda did not like that I would not blindly follow her commands where *MY* puppy was concerned. I’m really disappointed in WPZ’s lack of respect for the owner’s authority over their own puppy. My dog is *MY* dog and I have put a lot of thought and study into how I am choosing to raise her. I am not a fan of teaching kids to swim by throwing them into the water and am likewise not a fan of tossing a puppy into a group and letting them figure it out on their own-especially when the other dogs are significantly larger. My preferences where my dog are concerned should be respected. Thankfully, there are many, many options in BCS for places to socialize and train your dogs.

We had a great first experience boarding our pup here in early July! It was our very first time leaving her, so naturally we were a little nervous. Before the stay, we stopped by for a tour and were warmly welcomed by the front desk staff. They gave us a thorough walkthrough and clearly explained how everything works, which really helped put our minds at ease. We were able to secure our deposit with no issues. One helpful tip for future pet parents: if you’re planning to bring your pup and may need to run errands or make a last-minute drop-off, be sure to call the day before to confirm availability. We appreciated how organized and communicative the team was—definitely made a difference for us!

My husband and I are from out of town and we decided to board our dog for 2 nights at Waggie Pet Zone for a wedding after hearing good reviews on them. I had called once to check on her and was told that she had a heart by her name that indicated that she was playing well with other dogs. When we went to pick up our pup, I didn’t notice until we drove off that she had several patches of fur missing on and around her face. I called Waggie Pet Zone to find out what happened and the manager called me the next day and told me she would look into it. Later that day, I was called by the manager again and she mentioned that she could not pinpoint where our dog would’ve received those injuries. These injuries should have been documented and I should have been notified. Although we received many apologies, the manager at Waggie Pet Zone made no effort to make it right. So I paid $70 for boarding only for my dog to come back with missing patches of fur on her face that are completely noticeable even today. I will not use Waggie Pet Zone again and recommend you look elsewhere.

We let our fur babies ( cat & dog) stay here and i can say that we had no worries. They ended up doing Great! I really apperciated that they took notes with my super long instructions, explanations, etc. They also never seemed annoyed when I would call and check on them. We set Shiloh up in the room with the tv. I really like that they allow you to bring their own bed and blanket if wanted. Zoey, our cat, seemed very content with her area. She was excited to see me, she was more interested in her large window lol. We have also done a series of the dogs 101 classes with Amanda and she was wonderful! Never ask too many questions with her, she's always happy to answer. My dog ended up being obsessed with her and he loves the facility. He whines everytime we get near it!
