How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The hospital helped my kitten out on a Sunday. Kitten was sick and Banfield staff helped him out. Little guy is fever free and we have a check up date after. Due to my job it's hard to get weekdays off and I am super grateful Banfield is open on the weekends. 10 out of 10😁

Title: IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF DOG, DON'T BE A VET! Dr. Michelle Nicole Shutts 1. I made an appointment and tried to find a vet to deal with my dog's allergy problem. The symptom had not been cured or even under controlled after several hospital trips. So I went to the other Banfield. 2. I brought my dog in, and the vet tried to do exam on him, my dog just headed up and the vet immediately said: He wants to bite me! He need a muzzle! I was like: what? No! He wasn't! But the vet just ignore what I said and brought the muzzle out of the drawer. 3. When my dog saw the muzzle, he was so scared of it. TI highly suspect that the drop off service, they probably just use muzzle on my dog (or even every dog!) for every visit! 4. I said to the vet: I can hold my dog, he will not bite you, he just feel insecure. The vet refused and said rudely: if your dog bite you, you probably ask us to take the liability. I was like: no, I won't! But the vet still forced my dog to wear the muzzle! 5. I felt so bad at that time, one for myself not being a good dog mom to protect my baby, the other for my dog that he had to suffer that because of my wrong choice! At this time point, probably you may ask if my dog really bite people? The answer is no forever! Updates, nobody ever contact me after I file the claim through banfield website, so I decided to file a claim to TEXAS STATE BOARD OF VETERINARY MEDICAL EXAMINERS. I will try my best to protect my pets and let every pet owner won't suffer from those unqualified vet!!!!

Our two boys love going to see Dr Schultz and the team at Banfield. 1. They are very spoiled with treats. 2. They are so well taken care of. 3. The wellness plans work with our budget so our dogs are healthy AND we can save money. I've never had dogs that got excited to go to the vet, but here we are. Thanks to the Banfield team for taking care of our boys.

A complete waste of money for years. I have taken my dog to Banfield multiple times for a skin condition. Every time I go there, it's $250 - $350 plus, and nothing has worked. Then these clowns want to charge another $260 plus to cancel. Absolutely not!!! Banfield will not get another penny from me. I would leave zero stars if I could, but to post and show how terrible it is, I have to put at least one star.

I’ve frequented about 10 or so Banfields with my senior dog and this is by far the best service I’ve ever gotten at this location. The entire staff is warm and welcoming, I never feel rushed with the doctors and they listen to every concern. I feel like my senior dog is in great hands here and value their opinions on his care.
