How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Great place for vet care. Caring staff, the app for after hour communication has come in handy a couple of times already, having the store right there for dietary changes, and questions to be answered right then, is a great tool. Just all around a convenient place for pet care. I highly recommend their pet insurance plans. It seems pricey, but if your fur baby ends up being complicated, it's IMMENSELY cheaper to have the insurance than to pay full price for all the visits, labs, and other testing.

I don’t know if the doctors are not educated or even looked at my pet. I came in with an eye problem, they said my cats ears were dirty so that’s why his eye was so dilated. Spent $200 and some ear cleaning. A month and about $700 later at a different vet my cat has glaucoma. And I’m now taking him to a more expensive specialist and he might not get his vision back since I waited a month with this place and their answer to just do this and “wait to see how it goes down” I’m very upset that my cat will be partially blind because of this doctor and office staff.

Terrible service, the staff has no professional ethics, at least not with me and my dog. My dog is fine, they just want to get money from you and don't focus on the things you need. The service is paid for, you're not going to ask to be treated badly. I told the woman who helped today to give me the name of the person who gave me the appointment for today at 7 in the morning for a drop off and when I arrived they told me that it wasn't the dentist until October and instead of giving me the name she started talking to me loudly and when I told her to lower her voice she turned her face away making faces and left me talking to myself. How unprofessional, that's not called being a veterinarian, or maybe they're racist because I'm Hispanic. My dog was also bleeding where he got a vaccine and I asked her why he was bleeding so much and she didn't answer me anything. I told her I hope you're not mistreating my dog just because I don't want to go with what you're telling me my dog has. I have noticed that they get angry when you don't do what they say so you have to spend and spend money and that's why they turn against you. They should have more feelings towards animals and the people who bring the animals because thanks to us you eat and you have a check to receive.

I love this Banfield location. They have been excellent at taking care of my two dogs, are so transparent with pricing, and always do their best to be efficient & thorough! What prompted me to write this review was my recent visit when I took my cat to see them last week. He is adorable at home, but an absolute demon at the vet. I made them aware of this and they handled his demonic attitude with care, love, & grace- and successfully gave him his vaccines without him being drugged or anyone being bit by bratty cat child. I usually leave vet visits with my cat in tears from frustration, but I left this appointment with a smile on my face! (My cat wasn’t smiling, but he got the vaccines he needed! He’s just fine). Thank you 1000x over to the staff here for making what is usually a traumatic experience, an excellent one!

I’ve had the extreme displeasure of going to this vet for the past 9 months. No one knows anything and appointments always get pushed back 30-45 minutes after you get there. Their billing and communication is probably the worst I’ve seen in a business and the mostly ladies that work there are the most unknowledgeable and unhelpful. Pro tip: do not get the early wellness plan because they’ll say they canceled it after you become unhappy with it and then have a collection company come to you 6 months later with an over $700 bill for services that were canceled and not used!
