How to Save Money at The Cat Hospital Of Brampton
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Long and all the staff are amazing at The Cat Hospital of Brampton. I am very anxious cat owner so of course an annual check up appointment that entailed some surprising news was challenging to navigate. Dr. Long was exceptional in providing me with thorough details of Bobo’s condition and medication protocol. Bobo is a very special cat so anything I could do to help him is very much a priority. Bobo continues to thrive and I am so grateful to everything Dr Long does to support his ongoing treatment.

Our visit to the Cat Hospital started off with a simple phone call and on the other line we were greeted with one of the most compassionate, caring, and understanding frontline staff member Sam. He was gentle and understanding of how upset and scared I was with our sick little fur baby and even though it was close to closing time we were still welcomed to bring our Leo in to be looked at, and upon arrival we received the same courtesy, empathy and kindness. From there we met Dr. Kendra Long and Nicolo and once again, we were greeted with the same compassion and kindness. Dr. Long did an examination on our kitty cat with the assistance of Nicolo and explained in great detail her findings and possibilities along with the treatment. One of the things that I appreciated and I found most help was the mannerism of how she explained it, (I should mention the night before I had taken our fur baby to an emergency vet) and the comparison is day and night as the first Doctor instilled a lot of panic and fear in me to have the surgery done right there and then. But with Dr. long and her team although our cats circumstances are serious, she was able to explain it to us in a way that was both informative and caring where my concerns and anxiety level went down tremendously. Without a doubt the staff at the Cat hospital are truly caring and with our visit I experienced and observed that this is not just a work place, everyone was a team and if I may say I felt the vibes of a caring family environment. I most definitely would recommend Dr. Long and her team not only for the cat Hospital, but right next-door is the dog hospital. I can honestly say that I know my cat Leo is in good hands for her upcoming surgery and I am truly grateful and appreciative of all the caring, honesty, empathy, and compassion, that Dr. long and her team have expressed. I have also nominated The Cat Hospital on the Ontario SPCA website please feel free to support my vote especially in today’s world, where I find most individuals are quick to complain, but individuals never take the time to acknowledge and complement great service. The contest is open until June 28, 2024. Sincerely, M. REID

Dr. Long and all the staff at The Cat Hospital have been amazing with their treatment for my little girl, Bonnie. It was only a short time ago that I changed clinics because the previous one could not have cared less about our cat, but surely cared about the money. Because of the care from Dr. Long and her staff, I was lucky enough to be able to spend several quality months with Bonnie that I wouldn't have had I not changed clinics. Dr. Long provided me with options to help prolong my girl's quality of life = something I will forever be grateful for. Unfortunately, last week my Bonnie's time had come, and the quality of end of life care demonstrated empathy and compassion. We were told to take our time, and to spend as much time as we needed before and after her last moments. After saying goodbye to my Bonnie I'm not yet in a place to introduce another kitty into our lives. However, once I am, without hesitation I will return to The Cat Hospital for care. From the bottom of my heart. I can't express enough thanks to Dr. Long and her staff for the care Bonnie received over the last year.

Absolutely love this office! Dr. kendra is fantastic! All the staff here are friendly and really care for your pets... everytime I have called with a question, I get an answer right away even if they have to call me back, they always do quickly. I also really enjoy all the cats in the waiting room and the ones that are up for adoption. ❤ such a great atmosphere. I also found them to be reasonably priced for such great service, I initially called different offices for quotes but choose this one, and I'm so glad I did... Bella and Princess thank you Dr.Kendra and staff.
