How to Save Money at Annehurst Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We've been taking our pitbulls to annehurst for over 9 years. I have to say that I've never had anything less than a perfect experience here. The front desk staff are amazing and sweet. The doctors are informative and take their time . They make us feel like our dogs are one of a kind. I'm sure they do that with all of the pets but it's a really nice feeling because I can see they're being genuine . Wouldn't take our dogs Tiny and Paco any other place

I was in a bind with my dog requiring to be urgently seen, and me being by myself with two young children right before closing, I was anxious. The team was so thoughtful and encouraged me to bring my children. They continued to be caring and courteous as they could see I was stressed with the situation. Grateful for helping hands and getting us in and out quickly with a happy and healthy pup!

Love this vet! We moved here from another state and immediately had to deal with allergy issues in our dog. The staff and doctors are so knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. They constantly go the extra mile and give your pet undivided attention. Even during routine visits, they are amazing and attentive. This has been a great experience and I would highly recommend Annehurt!

I just established care for my dog with Dr. Madwar after moving here from out of state and was truly blown away (in a positive way)! My 7-year-old dog is very medically complex and it's hard to manage his various medical conditions. The day before his appointment, I provided the clinic with well over 100 pages (probably closer to 200) of past records for Dr. Madwar to review if she desired/had a chance. I did not expect her to review them in full and would not have been disappointed if she ended up not having the time to look at them at all. The office almost immediately called me to request that I come in earlier the next day to allow for a longer appointment (to allow for more time to review his history), which was very appropriate and yet still the first time I've had a vet do this. The next day, I was blown away to find out that not only had Dr. Madwar reviewed and highlighted all of his records the night before (at home, after hours), but her tech also reviewed the records that morning!!! I have been so blessed to find wonderful veterinary teams for my dog in the past and it has been so hard to leave them each time I have moved, but I have never had a vet show this much dedication prior to and during the first appointment. Add to this that the office got us in within 24 hours when we were not established patients or looking for emergent care and I truly consider it a blessing that a neighbor referred us to Annehurst Veterinary Hospital. I will absolutely pay that blessing forward if I hear of anyone looking for a veterinarian.
