How to Save Money at Doc Mo's Kindred Spirits Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Really nice people that helped us handle our dog after she passed away. Had her cremated there and for a little extra they made us a plaque to remember her.

Dr Mo, Nurse Christine and the entire hospital staff are second to none! My husband and I have been taking both our fur babies to Dr Mo for 15years. We have a senior pup named Kobe and a new addition that's a year and half named Taco. Lately we've had concerns about our senior pup so our visits have been a bit more frequent. Kobe loves seeing Dr Mo and his tail always wags when he walks into the room. It's beyond clear that not only does my husband and I trust Dr Mo but Kobe does too! Our last visit was an emotional one as we've had to inquire about Kobe's quality of life due to old age. Dr Mo and Nurse Christine both came into the examine room and showed Kobe extreme love. They also inquired on how my husband and I were feeling and let us know that no matter what we decided they would be by our side every step of the way. They presented us with all the options and we could tell that our family and our pups were important to both of them. We all decided that Kobe still has life in him and we all wanted him to live fully as best as he could. We came up with a plan to maintain Kobe's health as best we could and to make sure we do all we can to assure that the remainder of his life is filled with lots of love, comfort and his fav foods "within reason" as Nurse Christine says lol to remind us his health is first. Both Dr Mo and Nurse Christine were onboard with making sure my husband and I were clear about everything we needed to know and offered their support. That visit was emotional and unsettling for my family I couldn't help but tear up and at the end of the visit I gave Nurse Christine a hug and didn't want to let her go! I can't express how important Dr Mo and Nurse Christine are to us, we definitely considered them to be a part of our family. Not only has Dr Mo always shown exemplary care when attending to our animals needs but he also has the lowest cost medical visits in the greater Las Vegas area. The care Dr Mo gives each and every pet would normally be double if not more at any other pet hospital. This family run business puts its community, patients and every pet owner first every time! We love you Dr Mo, Nurse Christine and Staff

Dr. Mo has always been my go-to person when taking care of both pugs. Understanding its just him taking care of other dogs, he answers all of my questions and love how he gets straight to the point of your visit.

I bought a new puppy and the breeder uses Dr. Mo. Meet breeder at his office. His staff fit us in very quickly. From beginning to end his staff were not only the picture of professionalism, they are obviously all true animal lovers. Dr. Mo was down to earth communicated well and talked plainly, which added to my comfort level. My new puppy Bella will continue seeing Dr. Mo for all of her Veterinary needs. This is a true 5 paw review.
