How to Save on Veterinary Costs at River Pet Resort & Rehab

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

River Pet is such a lovely place to board your pets. They have a very friendly staff and a kind insightful manager. Dr. Zelinski is amazing with animals! She has helped my cat return to a regular glucose level. Thanks to Dr. Zelinski, my cat has made a complete remission from his high glucose levels. We thank you so very much!

Thank you, Dr. Zelinski. My vet recommended that I bring my elderly dog to River Pet for rehab therapy, to treat her severe arthritis and strengthen her hind legs. Dr. “Z” could not have been more attentive and patient, and we are extremely pleased with the results. I am very impressed with this fantastic facility and wonderful, kind staff. Very highly recommended.

Thank you Dr.Z and the staff at River Pet. Whether it is a day at camp or an extended stay my 8 1/2-year-old boxer is extremely well taken care of and loved. Many of the staff members have been here longer than the eight years my boy has been coming here. MAC is my child so you know only the best for him!! Esty is always kind and patient, and Frank Is one of the gentlest souls I have ever met. Sam is just as kind and does amazing grooming!!! All of the staff members are truly excellent. Congratulations for being part of a valued and trusted business. Much thanks and love Mac and his Mommy. XXOO

RiverPet is the best! Our dog LOVES it there. They offer free swimming - yes they have their own pool! Staff is amazing and they love all their guest. I know people from Manhattan who make the trip to Edgewater to board their pets here. A++++

If you have a "pitbull" type dog, get ready to be discriminated. I was told from the get go my dog wouldn't be able to join in at doggy day care which I wasn't too happy about but I accepted since it was their policy and my husband and I were in a pinch. I was assured however my dog would get plenty of walks to compensate for the time not allowed to run around with the other pups. Did that happen? Very unlikely. When my husband and I picked up our dog, his voice was nearly gone and he was acting very timidly which is unlike him. He's a very energetic and happy dog. When we asked whether he had been barking the entire time he was there, we were told, "Oh, no. He must've just heard you over the phone and started barking." BULLSH*T!!! I'm sure this place is great for lap dogs but if you have a larger dog, better find somewhere else. Definitely not worth the money.
