How to Save Money at Edgewater Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dec 21st, 2023; I drove today to the clinic to refill IV fluid I have to give at home to a senior cat when he needed. Dr Kim that treated the cat was OOO, oversees, I was told and impossible to contact. Office manager and the doctor on site ( she refused to talk to me) had a bad side manner arguing that I have not seen the doctor since 6 months ago and that I have to bring the pet in. I currently live almost 1 h away from the clinic and I refilled a couple of times since June 2023 with no problem. If they create multiple accounts and can not keep all the records it is not my fault.Office manager and the nurse saw Dr Kim notes to have the pet given IV fluids but probably for the crave of making money did not care about emergency I came with but to invoque an appointment with the doctor is needed. I told them that Dr Kim said he did maximum he could and for the condition of the senior cat a maintenance program with IV fluids is recommended. It is a shameful experience that shows lack of care, improper customer service, they behaved just like a pure cold blooded business. I drove 2 hours and a half back and forth in land NJ to have this horrible experience. I will connect with Dr Kim when he will be back in the office. Dec 25th, 2023 Please do not lie: nobody provided from your office refill at no charge. - how to establish a relationship with a doctor when the doctor on the duty did not even want to talk to me face to face. - Dr Kim, as I informed you while in the office did the utmost he could for the pet and recommended as notes you read states to give fluids when needed. - If when needed your office/ doctor on stuff was unavailable even to talk to me face to face for a few minutes and my pet remained without help and doctor Kim was unable to be contacted in any way and you disregarded his instructions regardless he is founder of the clinic, please keep your services and lack of professionalism.

The staff over here is excellent. Very helpful, they have helped a lot with keeping my mini Aussie, Odin healthy. They’ve also helped with my parents senior dog, a Yorkie, have the best possible life as he gets older. You can tell that the staff over here care about your pet’s needs.

Dr. Kim, Nurse Samantha & his entire staff are truly amazing and beyond competent in what they do. I can't say enough good things about them! I am so grateful to have found Dr. Kim & I would highly recommend all current/future fur parents to try Edgewater Animal Hospital (the one next to eyemedics!) My little buddy is a beloved member of our family and her health & wellbeing are always at the top of our priorities. When our previous Vet moved out of state post covid, I was really nervous to find another nearby. After being recommended by a neighbor & seeing all of Dr. Kim's reviews we decided to make the switch. I can now totally understand why he is so highly recommended. He is beyond compassionate, honest, understanding & patient with our little one as well as with our questions. We just picked up our little one after a dental cleaning procedure which I was super nervous about due to the anesthesia but Nurse Samantha & Dr. Kim, made an effort to calm me down and reassure me that she was in good hands. They also informed me on any potential risks prior & made no false promises which I highly appreciate. Dr. Kim reached out once the procedure was done and I was grateful that he took the time to call me himself. Both Dr. Kim & Nurse Samantha took the time to go over what was done, the aftercare, as well as advising me on our new daily dental routine. I didn't incur any surprise fees or charges from any of our visits because I was fully made aware of all potential quotes/estimates ahead of time.

Dr. Kim, Is the Best, I have been to other Vets that compete in the area-there is no comparison. Dr. Kim is honest, extremely thorough every time he treated my cat when dealing with illness. Most importantly he is patient. He must have been asked the same questions 3X by different family members. He was professional, caring & understanding of our emotions, LOVE & frustrations. My cat is near death and I am confident that he did not leave 1 stone unturned, relevant tests, boosted him with tons of fluids, B12 antibiotics et al. Most importantly I do believe that he honestly Cares too! In addition, Edgewater Animal Hospital is flexible w/ appointments scheduling, accommodating and return calls quickly. I highly recommend!
