How to Save Money at Isabella Cat Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Lindstrand and her staff are amazing. The love and care they provide is outstanding. Over the years the doctor has made numerous house calls in addition to taking phone calls after hours, weekends and holidays. Our pets are our children and the good doctor and her staff know this and provide such compassionate care. I highly recommend this Doctor to care for your animals.

Great experience, comfortable space for cats and humans! Very calm and quiet, and they treated my girl so well. They complimented her and gave her pets, treats, and a toy (or two ;) ) to go home with. Very open about the pricing upfront, and they made sure to explain everything as they went. Dr. Lindstrand was awesome, she took care to be gentle and thorough in looking over my little baby. Thank you guys so much♡. They have a really cute office kitty too, I gave her a few good chin scritches on our way out.

My Thorbug got extremely sick and I took him in on the Saturday right after Thanksgiving as an emergency visit. Dr. Lindstrand was so kind and gentle with Thor, who was diagnosed with CKD, and helped us formulate a plan of action. Thor ended up needing to be hospitalized there, and EVERYONE took such amazing care of him AND myself. They let me see him as much as I wanted. They were all gentle and loving towards him and all the cats I saw them interact with, even the spicy ones. Dr. Lindstrand and her team showed their heart and commitment towards the cats they help and showed how important each life that they come in contact with is to them. My Thorbug was too sick to make it, but we all tried our hardest to save him. When it was time to humanely euthanize him, Thor was relaxed in their presence, (which meant so much to me.) They let us be in a room that had sun beams, which was one of Thor's favorite things. It was a very quick and gentle death, with lots of tears shared among us all. Every single person there was so compassionate to our plight and explained everything so well. Unfortunately, it was just Thor's time to enter Valhalla, but Dr. Lindstrand and her team forever have our heart and immense gratitude, and most importantly, our trust.

Highly recommend taking your cats to this vet. The staff took amazing care of our cat Brutus. The vet came in early to care for him when he was really sick and the staff worked around their busy weekend schedule to come in and help him get healthy. I am so appreciative and thankful for everyone who works at Isabella cat clinic. Brutus is home resting and I am so thankful. ❤️

My cats were treated very well. We thought we had a great cat doctor, until. Our oldest cat of 17 years old had teeth infected. This doctor sent us home with estimate too remove the teeth. It was about 1400 dollars. Then said she would do no more for him until surgery. Not even an antibiotic to clear infection. My daughter who has been a vet tech for 20 years. She tells me they never put cats under anesthesia at his age. So the doctor would risk my cats life because she thinks it's best. We now have a vet who would never risk my cats life for money. He gave antibiotics to him. Now my 17 year old cat is back to begging for food as he used to.
