How to Save Money at Hometown Veterinary Partners Orland Park
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

If I could give ten stars I would. My brother and I took our cat, Cali, here today (4/5/25) and we were incredibly nervous. This was our first time taking her to a vet and we had no idea how she would behave. I wanted her to receive the best possible care. I did my research, found Hometown Veterinary Partners…and wow. I made the right choice. The staff is incredibly nice, the facility is clean, the atmosphere is welcoming & well decorated. As for Dr. Ortiz well she was amazing. Very funny, knowledgeable and overall the right choice to become our new go to veterinarian. She walked us through how to clip our cats nails (we’re first time cat owners so everything is new territory to us), vaccines, and any questions we had. The vet tech, whose name I did not get but I think might’ve been Tyler/Taylor, was also very knowledgeable, funny, and sweet to our girl Cali. We left and discussed how nice of a visit we had both the first time and second round(as Cali got sick in the car and we had to take her back) Genuinely I couldn’t recommend this vet more :)

My first experience at Hometown Veterinary Partners was amazing! While looking for a vet closer to my house I decided to give this new place a try to resolve my 3 year old german shepherd’s ongoing allergy and anal gland issues. Check-in reception was great and the place was just so squeaky clean. Dr. Stephanie Ortiz was AWESOME and explained everything that could possibly be causing these issues in great detail as well as all of the possible avenues for how to move forward to resolve them. She also gave me the most thorough bloodwork analysis I have ever received which gave me great comfort in my pet’s health. I am so happy I found this place for all of my fur babies, this will definitely be our primary vet from now on!!! Better than 10/10, total 15/10 experience!

I took my two kittens to Hometown and I was delighted by the service, care, and fair and transparent pricing I received. The room was so comfortable for my kittens, complete with a cat tower for them to play on. They felt right at home, no anxiety, and the way the team examined my pets was so thoughtful and effective. I cannot recommend Hometown enough!! Great vet and practice!! ❤️

It is a very personal experience when you bring your pet in. You are not in a waiting room with many many other animals and people They are really care about you and your pet. They listen to you. They don’t mind you asking questions. They are so helpful and understanding. The exam room is calming and comfortable You don’t fell like like you are at a vet. My very nervous and anxious dog was the calmest I have ever seen him at the vet. We highly recommend Hometown. You will be extremely happy. Thank you so much Dr. Eisenbart and staff
