How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Brunswick Pet ER

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Worse Vet experience I have EVER encountered. Customer service and care was horrific! 1) When I called in to explain that I thought my 8 yr old son's 6 month old puppy had swallowed something and I thought it was stuck, the employee seemed to be more concerned about whether or not I could pay the $90 exam fee. 2) When we are arrived we were not greeted and treated more as if we were a burden even thought there were no other patrons in the facility. 3) When I was asked what I thought the puppy had digested or was attempting to swallow, I was scorned for not keeping him in his crate at night. 4) When the veterinarian came into the room, she was not polite. When I attempted to show her the part of the puppy's throat that concerned me, she scorned me and told me not to press on that area as it was his larynx, even though I was not pressing on it just showing her the region. Again, I was scorned for not having him in a crate at night. 5) Instead of the veterinarian or her assistants comforting my crying son or myself that our puppy was going to be okay, they seemed to act as though we wasted their time and we were told we should have waited 24 hours and taken him to another vet. 6) Also, it seemed that one of the employees was training a new employee and NOT once did we get an apology for the extra time it was taking for the process because of this. Basically, we were treated as if our problem was not their problem or concern.

Don't take your sick animal here. Save time and drive to Savannah or to Florida to see someone who care! This was the worst experience ever!!When I arrived no other customer was waiting. The receptionist had me fill out the form and asked what was wrong with my dog. I gave her a brief explanation. A little later we went back to the exam room. I never saw a doctor or nurse. Just the receptionist with a bill for $290. Without a doctor even looking at my dog they wanted X-rays...why? I told her to run the urinalysis before doing the X-rays. The receptionist took the specimen I brought in and left. A little later a nurse (I assume since she never introduced herself)said the urine was fine and they needed to do X-rays. Ok? But the actual vet hasn't even looked at my dog. We waited over an hour and a half (90 minutes!!!) and still no one looked at my dog! My daughter and I could here the doctor in the back discussing the weeks surgery schedule! What someone could do first thing every morning..hello I have a sick dog here. Finally I got up and left. The receptionist said the vet was working on two critical animals. May be but I could hear what the vet was saying and it wasn't medical - it was administrative! I left they ended up only charging me for the urinalysis but that's not the point. DON'T bulls..t instead of taking care of the animals. Don't keep people waiting.

While vacationing on nearby Jekyll Island our dog became ill and I needed to find a vet on a Sunday. To our relief, we found Brunswick Pet ER. I called and talked to a very friendly and reassuring person who gave me directions and a brief summary of Pet ER's basic charges. When I arrived, I was greeted by the receptionist, who turned out to be that reassuring voice on the phone. She continued to be very helpful and concerned and introduced me to an equally friendly and helpful Vet Technician. Then I met Dr. Strickland, DVM who was very professional and friendly. She examined our dog, and then gave me a very thorough explanation of the problem and her recommended treatment. Overall, I was very pleased with the services our dog received. And very pleased with the professionalism and concern shown by every staff member I dealt with. Make no mistake the Pet ER services were not cheap, but a small price to pay for treatment to a beloved pet, on a Sunday. I would highly recommend Brunswick Pet ER to any pet owner in a similar situation.

I found Dr. Strickland to be very loud obnoxious and brash and lacking in compassion ,the staff acts like they don't like their job and I think the place is coin operated .I honestly believe if I'd had another $500 my little dog would still be alive . After my little dog passed and I went to pick up his body the doctor didn't even have the common decency to to come out from the back of the office and give condolences. Next time I have an emergency with any of my pets I will go the extra hundred miles to a different ER. I have a hard time believing that a person would actually let an animal or living things die because of a dollar amount but it seems to come easy to this place .

About once a month, we make the 6 hour drive from our home to Jesup to visit with and check on my 86 year old mother. Our 3 fur-babies always make the trip with us. Before leaving home, we noticed that our Pit Bull was shaking her head . She's had problems with ear infections and mites in the past. The night before our trip, we used an ear cleaner prescribed by our local vet. About 2 hours after arriving and all appearing well, then all of a sudden, the dog started having a very ataxic gait, had a strange "disconnected" look in her eyes, was panting very hard and most concerning, her gums and oral mucosa were WHITE! She became very lethargic. We kinda panicked because, well, she's one of our babies! It was a Saturday afternoon, so I grabbed my tablet and looked for an emergency vet clinic. I initially found one in Savannah which would have taken about an hour and a half to reach. But then I found this place. I called ahead to confirm hours and address. The person on the phone was friendly, sounded concerned and made me feel good about taking the dog there. The three of us and the dog loaded up and arrived about 45 minutes later. For the positives: 1) We found a pet ER. 2) We were greeted pretty promptly and the vet tech ( I assume) took a quick look at our baby and noted that she was tachycardic and that her gums were very pale. She had a great manner with the dog. For the negatives: When I initially was writing this, I exceeded the number of characters allowed, so I'll just try to condense by saying that 1) We were in the clinic for 2+ hours. 2) We were one of 2 patients in the place (so no excuse for a 2+ hour visit) 3) The vet spoke so loudly that it scared my dog (and my significant other said that if she hadn't left the room when she did, he would have had to leave the room because of how loud and abrasive her voice was. 4) They took my dog AWAY from us for the vet to examine. NEVER in 40 years of being a pet owner and being in countless vet's offices and ERs all over this county and in Europe, have I EVER had a pet taken away from me to be examined. UNACCEPTABLE. 5) Although I asked specifically, no answer (not even an "I don't know") was ever offered as the the cause of the paper white gums. I eventually received some ear drops and instructions for how to administer and finally got out of there. We took my dog here in what we considered to be an emergency situation. I'm just now having a chance to read previous reviews. Good thing, because if I'd read them before rushing my dog here, I would not have wanted to bring her here. Not sure what I'd have done, but surely would have had no confidence! The bill came up to $150 or so. I can live with that because I understand that vet ER services are expensive. Compared to the Vet ER in my area (Emergency Veterinarian Clinic in Niceville, FL) this place appears to be understaffed and disorganized. Since this kind of turned out to be not a big deal, all's well that ends well. But believe, me, I will be looking for other vet ERs in the Jesup area and may even go so far as to take all 3 of my babies to a vet in Jesup in order to establish a relationship so if we have further issues in the future, perhaps we'll be able to call the local vet in hopes that they may be available after hours in an emergency.
