How to Save Money at Florida Animal Dentistry

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They care about the comfort of the fur babies and the parents! ☆☆☆☆☆ Mike and Suzzie provided all the answers we were looking for. No rushing, we talked long enough to see that my fur baby was comfortable with them. ☆☆☆☆☆ They had our vet perform a couple tests to make sure our baby was able to handle the procedure. Working with our regular vet gave us another level of comfort that these guys are animal owners and wanted the same thing I wanted for my baby. ☆☆☆☆☆ Mike gave us a quote with a high and low price depending on the complications they couldn't see until the X-rays and getting hands on. We had a hard price $+- going into the appointment! ☆☆☆☆☆ Suzzy and Mike sat down with us as caring friends would. The level of service and care we received for our fur baby was ☆☆☆☆☆ stars all around!

I cannot speak highly enough about Florida Animal Dentistry! I adopted a stray cat who ended up having severe Stomatitis and needed a full mouth extraction! I am so grateful my primary vet referred me to Dr. Wiegand! He and Susie are amazing! So patient, so thorough, so kind! They took EXCELLENT care of my cat, Oliver, and always answered ALL of my many questions and concerns with professionalism and kindness. The price of surgery was (of course!) a lot, but I thought it was VERY reasonable considering all that is involved. The cost also included all follow up visits. Dr. Wiegand and Susie are an amazing team, and I would highly recommend them to anyone! (By the way, my cat, Oliver, is about 2.5 months past surgery now, and doing GREAT! I am so happy that we got this taken care of! He can live a healthier and happier life now, thanks to Florida Animal Dentistry!)

I highly recommend Florida Animal Dentistry & Oral Surgery. The staff is so caring and attentive from beginning to end. After Fred's procedure the doctor called me at night to see how he was doing. He did this for three nights in a row. The staff was available all hours if I had any questions or concerns. The follow up visits went smoothly and my boy is doing great. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Fred.

Our 14 year old Minnie was acting very strange, she had bubbles coming out of her nose, losing weight and making freak movements and we thought it was coming to her end of her life. After googling I came across Florida Animal Dentistry. At first I thought omg God it is so far away. We have had many bad experiences down here in Coral Springs, I was afraid to drive all the way with my sick dog only to have the same. Boy was I wrong !! I called and spoke with Suzy and she was very kind and she has great empathy for the animals and my Minnie. She and the Doctor were very busy and she said she would call me back for an appointment. Well that same evening she called us back and said we could come over now. We were so desperate to get help for her. We jumped in the car drove up to Stuart about an hour 15 minutes later at 8 pm we arrived. We walked in to this beautiful and clean office and Suzy greeted us. She took us back and we met Dr. Weigand- they began to do an examination on Minnie. We were in that room with Dr. Wiegand and Suzy for about 2 hrs. They did pictures, bloodwork and diagnosed Minnie on the spot. A day or two later Minnie had a CT scan and confirmed what the doctor diagnosed. Within 2 days we were back in Stuart for the surgery. We were very nervous because Minnie was so weak and 14yrs old. Minnie had to have her teeth removed and then they cleaned and closed a nasal fistula. When we picked up Minnie she was awake and the doctor took many pictures to show his work and I tell you the details and the work he had done was incredible. Dr. Weigand and Suzy called and checked on Minnie and has she has been back for her check ups. Minnie is doing great now and we are so happy to have more time with our little one. Thank you so much for all you do and for caring so much for the animals. We are so grateful !! You guys are truly one of a kind.
