How to Save Money at Paws 2 Help

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

First I want to thank this non profit organization for helping the community (at a reasonable price). The staff was AWESOME!!! Dr. Kryvonos was great (very professional, gave a thorough exam to my pet. She explained everything and answered my questions. The location is convenient. The facility is clean and check in was easy. Two concerns- the wait time and Paws 2 Help answering their phones. My appointment was at 10:30AM and I did not leave until after 1:00PM. That is a killer waiting that long. I was told that someone would call me with my cat’s test results and no one ever did. I called several times to speak to someone concerning the test results of the blood work and no one ever answered the phone. I left two messages. No one ever called me. I had to make a trip over to Paws 2 Help on Indiantown Road and speak with the doctor in person , (for her to tell me the results of the blood test). If they could fix the two concerns, I would have given Paws 2 Help five stars.

Wonderful organization! Low cost, friendly staff, excellent experience! My dachshund suffered from IVDD. She was in severe pain, yelping and screaming when we arrived. The staff kept us calm and took outstanding care of our baby. For our follow up appointment, everyone was so kind and visibly happy that she felt better.

This location is AWESOME. I cannot recommend them enough - especially over west palm. Their whole staff is both kind and attentive, they usually answer the phone when you call (unlike wpb where you have to call 8-9x back to back to get through to someone, emergency or not), they are very thorough in their examinations, and provide up-front cost analysis before doing any procedures. You can tell their office manager actually gives a d@mn and that the staff is there because they genuinely want to help. The veterinarian that was there and took care of my Sadie was one of the better ones I’ve experienced in a long time as well. She genuinely listened to me (unlike other offices where they assume you know nothing about your animal and cut you off) and explained things very clearly. Definitely recommend them & will go back for any future needs for our babies.

This is a great option for a spay/neuter but not for sick or other wellness exams. You book an appointment and show up and they are running several hours behind. I’m not sure if they overbook themselves or a general lack of organization and vet techs to assist with appointments. By the time you factor in your 3-4 hour wait you aren’t saving any money, their costs aren’t that much more than a typical vet office.

It Doesn’t Take a lot to Please Me, Just Be Honest & Do yr Professional Job Well!! The Vet Visit is $35 & that’s Just a Consultation!! & then you Get Hit with High Cost Medication!! :(( I asked the Veterinary Lady, Surly there’s More less expensive Alternatives?? & My Babies Case Was Easy! I Asked her How Much $ For the Course of Treatment? She Said, 7 days $22! OH, Well that I can Handle & with a $20 Bottle of Shampoo! Well, THAT Was NOT The Case!!?? The Technician came back into Exam Room With a Card Reader, & the High Cost Medication Was Actually $41 for 7 Days! I said, “The Dr Lady Said $22! BUT that Was NOT THE COURSE OF ACTION, Because this Medication Requires 2 times a Day, SO She Wasn’t Being Honest & that’s Not RIGHT!! Also for Not Giving Me the less expensive Alternative Medications! I Miss Dr Wood He Was Wonderful!!
