How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital Fort Lauderdale
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I don’t usually leave long reviews, but I want to reflect the level of care that BluePearl showed my cat, Apache. After his blood and bile acid tests indicated liver issues—but ultrasounds came back normal—my primary vet referred me to Dr. Cannon and Dr. Frame. Dr. Cannon was the first to see Apache. Based on her expertise, she suspected a liver shunt, a rare condition in cats, and clearly explained what that meant using images and simple language. She put together a thoughtful medical and surgical plan to begin Apache’s recovery. Once Apache began his medication, I met with Dr. Frame, the surgeon. He walked me through every step of the process—before, during, and after surgery—and personally called me both before the procedure began and immediately afterward to update me. The surgery went smoothly, and the ICU nurses were incredibly kind, even letting me visit him right after. Post-operative recovery for liver shunt surgery can be unpredictable, but Dr. Frame remained accessible and responsive, always answering my calls and emails with care and clarity. Every follow-up visit was just as smooth, thanks to the consistently helpful and compassionate staff of nurses and anesthesiologists. I truly can’t recommend Dr. Frame , Dr. Cannon, and the entire Blue Pearl staff highly enough. Working at a 24/7 hospital is very tough, but every time I walked in the receptionists were very friendly. They really made this process very comfortable and thankfully ended with the most positive result!!

When your fur baby is injured it’s stressful and the sensitive care received from the Blue Pearl team was greatly appreciated. Every option and treatment plan was thoroughly discussed with me by the vets involved and the night nurse even sent me pictures of my pet during her stay at the hospital! The incredibly competent team performed a surgery that was tricky and were successful. Follow-up care was fantastic with the surgeon taking time again to discuss the healing process with me. Shout out to Dr. Kevin Frame for his skill, support and patience for my 101 questions. Highly recommend the team at Blue Pearl!!

I have been to my fair share of vets having dogs all my life, and Blue Pearl is top notch! The very best! First visit started through the emergency room. From very minute I walked in the door on that visit, I knew my baby would be getting the absolute best care. You can tell that all the employees love animals and to me that extremely important! It’s not just a job, but their passion. My baby had to have surgery with Dr. Frame. Never once did I feel pressured that it HAD to be done or else…. He took his time with us, never felt rushed. We had 2 appointments prior to the surgery and we always felt comfortable and heard. Never felt like a number like other places we have been. Even after the surgery, I called in the evening with questions I forgot to ask and never once did I feel I was a bother! The most amazing experience with an emergency vet and surgeon!

I will start by saying that this place is not cheap- in fact- it’s pretty expensive. That being said- they do offer care credit options. But….. but—- you get more than what you pay for. They have everything here for diagnostics, surgeries and almost all emergencies. I brought my 2 year old mini schnauzer in who was in labor and had a puppy stuck breach in the birth canal. It was not possible for her to deliver the puppy and when I arrived to emergency- they thought that puppy had died and the other 4 puppies were rapidly declining. They guaranteed they could save my dog- but were not sure about the rest. They did an emergency c section and not only saved my dog- but were able to save all of the puppies- all 5!! The staff was enthusiastic, supportive, friendly, nurturing and loving. I will use them for any serious future emergencies. I have been to other emergency centers for less money- and never left feeling confident in their diagnosis nor treatment. I have 100% confidence in the staff and docs at Blue Pearl. Thank you guys!! Mama and all 5 puppies are active and doing well because of u!!❤️🙏🏻

Dr Castaneda & nurse Chris took great care of our very sick cat. We brought him in at 2:30 AM and received a rare combination of kindness, patience & professional medical care. They explained the options for his treatment, what they were doing & why. Thanks to them he is healthy & happy again!
