How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Airport Veterinary Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour

First real disappointment here. I’ve been a customer for over 15 years and have been happy with the care my various pets have received. However, yesterday after seeing some fleas on my inside cat, I called to get some medicine, assuming I’d need a prescription as this was the first time this cat has had fleas. When I picked up the medicine it was Cheristin (one dose). The cost was $38.11. I was having trouble opening it and went on the internet for help and found the same medicine was available without a prescription on Amazon for $19.25. It would have been nice to know I could have ordered it myself but I understand them providing it to me. What I don’t understand is the 98% mark up. I get that a profit needs to be made but, I’m sorry, this seems excessive and not very good customer service.

From her very first day to her very last day, Dr. Ratcliff always helped me love and take care of Rudi. I can’t say thanks enough to all the staff as well and especially Ali who was so comforting on our very worst day. We have used Airport veterinary clinic for around 25 years and they are still loving and caring for our whole family’s pets. Dr Hardin and Dr Laprade are part of our family now too! We are so lucky to have you all in our community. Thank you for all you do for us and our furry friends.

If you ever find yourself in a true emergency with your dog, understand this: you may be completely on your own. We called repeatedly during a medical crisis. An established patient. A real emergency. Silence. No callback. No triage advice. No effort to squeeze us in. Nothing. No mention of every even scheduling an appointment. There is something deeply wrong with a veterinary clinic that cannot be bothered to return a desperate call about a suffering animal before closing for the weekend. When your pet is in distress and you’re begging for help, the bare minimum is acknowledgment. We didn’t even get that. A vet clinic’s character is revealed in emergencies — not routine vaccine visits. Ours was revealed loud and clear. If responsiveness, compassion, and basic human decency matter to you when your dog’s life could be on the line, DO NOT take them to airport veterinary clinic in Destin, Florida.

We just moved here and had a recommendation from a vet friend back home for this place. Everyone was super sweet to my girl, and she got a lot of pets and loves, which made her very at ease, enough for her to splat the floor while waiting!💙 Dr Hardin was great and sat and talked to me about her medical history and what all she was in for today. I felt very at ease with the staff and doctor. We live in ValP but this clinic is worth the drive into Destin!

I took my service dog here for the first time yesterday and we were both extremely pleased with the levels of care and service. They were very short staffed this week, but we got in because of cancelations. Oliver had skin problems and allergies that needed to be checked before they got worse or infected. It was also time for yearly shots and check-up. When we got there, they already had his previous records. The office staff greeted us promptly and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We saw Dr Lyon, who happened to be the only vet this week, but I was very impressed. She and the tech both obviously care a great deal about the animals they care for. My favorite thing is that they do the check and shots in the room. He had me right there, so no issues caused by separation anxiety. It's fairly common in this area to take the animal to the back for everything, but that makes it very difficult to monitor and guage the care provided. Dr Lyon is very knowledgeable and thorough. She is also very friendly and easy to talk to. Oliver has had skin problems and allergies since I got him and we've tried almost everything with our previous vet. She gave us an older option to try. I don't expect a miracle, but I appreciate her thinking outside the box. I've heard great things about Airport Veterinary Clinic from several of their customers over the last few years. Someone who works there was at the emergency vet the same time we were and she also had great things to say. When our previous vet's office had no appts this week, I decided it was time to try them out even though it's much further away. I'm definitely glad I did. The care is worth the drive to Destin and I'll be taking my other fur babies here too.
