Came in like an hour before they closed and the staff was so kind. Our pup is very excited and energetic in new places so she was a handful and they didn't even bat an eye. She said that she was great, just a little wiggly 😆 She came in and said with the symptoms we gave her and what we have been seeing, she recommended bloodwork and fluids. She said they could do an XRay but it wasn't something she was super concerned about doing so she gave us a quote with and without the xray. They found the issue from the blood work (Giardia) and gave us the medication. We had another dog about a year ago that had Giarda and when we took him to a different urgent vet, it was around the same price

Please read before you take your 4 legged family member to this facility. I took my cat to Urgent Pet Vets for a urinary infection/blockage. We were taken to an examination room and my cat (Leo) was taken in the back treatment area for weight, temperature. Dr Mercer came in the examination room and explained Leo’s bladder was huge and he needed lab work, X-rays, etc. and would need to be on a strict prescription diet food and as this could be a reoccurring issue maybe euthanasia would be the best option for us. She said she would work up a treatment estimate so we can decide what to do. The assistant came in the examination room with the procedure estimate which was $2750.30 (see attached photo) Dr. Mercer then came back in the room and I asked if she was able to manually express Leo’s bladder. Dr Mercer stated it was too big and it could burst if she did that procedure and left the room so my husband and I could discuss the estimate. When she returned we asked if X-rays and bloodwork could wait for now. As the most important thing was that Leo’s bladder needed to be relieved. She stated “no, we don’t do that”. Dr. Mercer said in order for any procedure to be performed all the tests would need to be done for the general anesthesia. I asked if a ketamine injection could be given to place the catheter instead of the propofol and general anesthesia. She stated “no, we don’t do that”. (It is a common practice that ketamine can be used to place the urinary catheter as I had worked in a veterinary clinic for over 20 years). She said Leo needs to be totally under anesthesia for the procedure and she said I will let you discuss what you want to do and left the room. When she returned I asked if she can relieve his bladder by a needle and syringe (cystocentesis) commonly used to take urine out of the bladder for a urinalysis and also for a blockage. Dr. Mercer said “no, we don’t do that”. Maybe euthanasia would be the best she said. Our only options were to pay $2750.3O or euthanize Leo. We ask about euthanasia and the cost is $396.00 (Attached photo) and that does not include any other services as in cremation or body disposal. My mind exploded. Euthanasia cost for a feline is not even close to that price at any emergency vet. Dr. Mercer’s clinic is price gouging on people’s emotions and suffering pets when you think there’s no other options. We declined all services and paid the $85 exam fee which we did not see Dr. Mercer perform. We left the clinic without any help for Leo. We had the funds to pay for all the treatments but felt Dr. Mercer was taking advantage of the situation by not discussing any other treatment options. She did not have Leo’s health as her top priority it was all about how deep our pockets were. She let us leave with my cat having a full bladder that can burst and have a horrible death. This review is and isn’t all about the money. It is because the Dr. would not discuss different treatment options at a lower cost. And it isn’t about the money it was because she kept suggesting euthanasia. We took Leo to a real urgent/ emergency vet clinic and within 3 minutes of walking in the door while filling out new patient forms the Dr. had relieved Leo’s bladder. Dr. Stone and staff went over their treatment estimate (photo attached). Euthanasia was not even discussed. Leo was hospitalized overnight and is home and doing great. (Attached photo) The procedure estimate at Urgent Pet Vets is excessively more than the true urgent/emergency vet facility. Please look at the estimates for the treatment plan at the so called urgent care facility that is owned by Dr. Mercer vs. a real emergency care facility. I do not have a written estimate from the real emergency care facility for euthanasia but the verbal quote was $128. Dr. Mercer did NOT have my Leo’s best interest that night and maybe it was because it was 8:00 and the clinic closes at 9:00 and we interrupted her pizza dinner that euthanasia was the best option for her. Awesome treatment. "Bring a credit card", but it's worth it. Both my dogs are non infected anymore. Happy running around. I paid over $1850.00 to treat my two pups for Giardia. I see others complaing about $500.00 for treatment. I guess I paid for her Tesla Truck Payment. Too bad they charge people so much. Money is the route of all evil, you'll get paid back for your mistreatment.

ZERO stars!!! This place was amazing a few years ago with another pet of mine, not sure what changed but I would NOT recommend this place. My chihuahua got attacked by a pit bull suffering a puncture wound in his neck that was visibly bleeding and a hemorrhage in his eye and obviously distressed. There was one car in the parking lot therefore I know this place was not busy. Appeared to be one person working but that person was printing paper work and told me I would be right with you, I inquired what that entailed and she said I don’t know it could be 10 minutes it could be 20 minutes and rolled her eyes, I asked if she could just take a quick peek to let me know he was ok, she replied with he is awake and breathing, he is fine. I may have been a panicking dog mom but I feel her taking a quick peek at his injuries to assess the severity was much more important than the paperwork she had to do. I’m also sure the 1 other pet owner in the office would have understood. Ultimately I left and rushed to UF vet hospital in Ocala and received prompt care by compassionate providers.

The only good thing was the fact we were able to find out what was wrong with my baby Duke. The Vet showed us the XRay6telling us he has a bleeding tumor in his stomach. She charged over $1K for that and didn't give a copy of the radiology report so that our Veterinarian who usually sees him could give us more information. She halso suggested we put Duke 'down' and I was aghast and appalled.
