How to Save on Veterinary Costs at The Vets Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

My dog and I are newer to this practice, but I have been so impressed by the staff here and pleased with the treatment that my dog has received that I have to give them a shoutout. My dog has had a health issue since she was a puppy and it’s never been clear to myself or her previous vets if it she has been in pain due to the issue. While she has received quality vet care in the past, I was hoping to find a vet team that went above and beyond. After receiving a recommendation for this practice from a trusted friend, I gave them a try and I can confidently say that they do go above and beyond. We live about an hour and a half away from this practice, but they are well worth the commute for our appointments. During our appointments, we spend more time with support staff and speaking with the vet (Dr. Carson) than at at any other practice I’ve been to. I feel that my concerns and questions are always heard out and answered compassionately and thoroughly. Every staff member I’ve interacted with- from receptionists, to vet assistants, to techs, to Dr. Carson, have been helpful, professional, friendly, efficient, and kind. They appear to be a very busy practice, but I am always made to feel that my dog’s treatment is important to them. I imagine they provide this standard of care to all of their patients. Most importantly, my dog is doing phenomenally after being started on a treatment regimen. Though she never showed obvious signs of pain before treatment, it is plain to see in her behavior and body condition that she is feeling like a new dog. My dog is my world and I can’t express how much it means to me to see her quality of life improve so vastly. All thanks to the staff of The Vets!

I’m very disappointed in the practices of the clinic owner Dr. Carson. I feel as though her main objective is to make your bill as high as possible. Previously I took my dog in for an ear/eye infection that ended up costing almost $400 dollars. There were things done that I believe were completely unnecessary and were not discussed as an added expense. A week later I went back for his vaccines and yearly exam that was over $200. Today, I was with a different doctor who I was very impressed with. When my dog was showing way too much anxiety (and some aggression) we made a choice together that it would be best to come back a different day with some anxiety medication. I was content with her treatment plan in the meantime and agreed my dog was under too much stress. That’s when the clinic owner stepped in and had me do things all over again with my dog, just outside. When she had me muzzle him, he of course fought against it and it ended up cutting his nose. My dog was less stressed outside, but still not in a good position to continue. It would’ve been so much better for him to come back with anxiety meds a different day like I was going to do in the first place. She was then very pushy about do more things for him today after all this. I let her know I would rather wait, and have my husband come along. She still pushed to add an extra $300+ procedure to do today. I again had to refuse. My total today was almost $300 today with the expectation that I will bring him back within a couple weeks to have $400 worth of stuff done then. My husband has also had trouble with Dr. Carson in the past about the training we chose for our dog. She berated him about it. Our rescue dog desperately needed training. We spent good money, at reputable facility, to do it so that he could have a forever home with us. The fact that she thought it was her place at all to lecture my husband is crazy. We have tried to see past all these things, because we do love the technicians and the other veterinarians, but today was the final straw. We will be taking our business to a place where the owner cares about our dogs and not how much money they can get out of us

I can’t say enough good things about The Vet Hospital in Windsor! Charlie has faced many health challenges, and from the time he was just eight weeks old, they have cared for him as if he were their own. The moment I walk in I am greeted with a warm hello and they immediately ask, ‘How’s Charlie?’—a true testament to their dedication and compassion. Dr. Carson and the entire staff go above and beyond to make us feel at home, and I’m beyond grateful for their kindness and expertise. Thank you for always taking such great care of Charlie! Nice moldy counter my pet is suppose to stand right next to. I personally didn’t feel well after sitting in the room for less then an hour. Update: Not sure who the responding party thinks they’re speaking with, but they very clearly don’t know which client I am; all information they stated in the response doesn’t apply to me or my dog/our visit. Weird that you’re ranting someone else’s info to me….just shows even more why people shouldn’t trust you as their vet.
