How to Save Money at Greek and Associates Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Very pleased with the level of care that was provided to my leopard gecko! It was difficult finding a vet in the area that cared for geckos, and while researching, I had a bunch of other vets recommend Greek and Associates. After my appt today, I understand why it had so many recommendations! The vet clearly had tons of experience with reptiles and made me feel very comfortable with her treating my gecko. She was amazing and took great care of her. Even better, the treatment was very affordable and I didn’t feel like I was being overcharged at all. Great people, great prices, and amazing, experienced vets. Would recommend!!

I’ve heard so many good things about Dr.Geek but after learning how his own animals are being cared for I’m just so disappointed. The animals being kept here are in horrendous conditions and for a “knowledgeable reptile vet” to keep any animal like this is sickening! Apparently it’s been brought to their attention multiple times with no improvements being made, I recommend being very very cautious on who you let take care of your pets because if someone is okay keeping their own animals in deplorable conditions, why do you think they actually care how your is? Dr.Greek please fix the current care of your animals on display, this is absolutely unexcusable and should have never happened, you are someone who a lot of people look up to so for you to be displaying animals/keeping them in terrible conditions is just mind blowing to me , please do better and not just move them to the back with the rest.

We’ve been coming to Dr Greeks office for more than 10 years with several generations of dogs, cats, and rabbits. I was very sad and disappointed that my rabbit became sick and when I called the next appointment was two weeks away… I do commend them for calling later with a cancellation later in the day but when I realized he could be dying and called to bring him in they said they were over booked and I had to wait until my appointment which was 3 hours away… he died 20 minutes later. There should be some way to see emergences .. especially with long standing clients. Now I feel guilty he may have suffered. I always recommend Dr Greek but I’m hurt I really needed them and they put me off.

My experience is limited to front desk staff only. The ladies were extremely nice and helpful. My bf found a tortoise that had been hit by a car and the shell was cracked. I called several vets that specialize in exotic animals, Greek was the only place willing to take it as a surrender. I'm thankful the doctor was willing to help. We have no reptile experience and didn't want it to suffer. I have dogs and will definitely bring them here in the future! Thank you again to the staff who seemed genuinely concerned for the tortoise as well as the doctor who agreed to take it in.

We were recommended to this place by our local pet supply store. We had to bring in our 20 year old baby due to illness, and unfortunately had to make the very hard decision to put her down. All of the staff were super caring and comforting us in a very sad and emotional moment. Because of the love and care we received, we will 100% be coming back with our next fur babies. Thank you so much.
