How to Save Money at The inFURmary
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We've had such great experience's here. We've been here a couple times now with our dogs and our cat. And every time the staff is so welcoming and warm, they really listen to our concerns with our animals and they take such great care of them. Our cat is very feisty so when they did her exams, the staff handled her so well that she just melted into their arms and almost fell asleep. That really says a lot. She also had to have eye surgery. Everything went smoothly and they explained everything very thoroughly/after care/pricing etc and answered all my questions. Pricing was extremely reasonable and the breakdown was easy to understand. The rooms are extremely clean, organized and welcoming to pets ie cat trees in the cat specific rooms which is a detail we loved. And a little pup cup station for our dogs at the end of their apt! Just little things to cause less stress on the animals. All in all this is our new vet. 10/10 experiences thus far

I can’t thank The InFurmary enough for the care and love they gave my dog after an accidental grooming injury. I had never been there before, but they kindly for us in immediately to exams and treat my senior pup with so much compassion and gentleness. The whole Team at The InFurmary was incredibly friendly, warm, and reassuring during a very stressful moment. They took excellent care of him, cleaned and stitched his wound, and provided the medications needed. They even suggested using a toddler’s long sleeve shirt to replace the Cobe of Shame to keep him comfortable while preventing him from licking his stitches. I am so grateful for their prompt attention, kindness, and expert care. All three of our pups will be going there for all our veterinary care! I highly recommend The InFurmary to anyone looking for a veterinary team that truly goes above and beyond. (Also, there were cat fur babies being treated and cared for as well!)

We came here for a neuter and had such a good experience. They even offered to do it same day. The dr and vet tech were very caring and explained any questions i had. We felt very comfortable and the staff are super kind thank you for taking care of my pup!

Brought my nearly 16 year old shy/nervous cat Willis to this practice because I thought he would do better with a woman veterinarian. The clinic is very nice, clean and bright. Bea, at the front desk and RVT, Lara, were wonderful. Dr. Johnson was very nice as well. My only criticism is that I would have liked a bit more direct interaction with her. I would have especially appreciated a phone call from Dr. Johnson to discuss Willis’ blood and urine test results, rather than an email. I know I can contact the office with any questions, but it just would have been my preference to speak to Dr. Johnson about Willis’ test results. Thank you.

We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Jackie Johnson. After a long and overwhelming stretch of confusing test results, conflicting opinions, and a lot of fear around our dog Lola’s complicated medical situation, reconnecting with Dr. Johnson felt like we could finally breathe again. She is everything you want in a veterinarian: clear, calm, incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and completely thorough. But what really sets her apart is the way she thinks — she sees the whole picture, explains things in a way we can actually understand, and helps us make decisions with confidence instead of panic. We were genuinely lost until we found our way back to her. She brought order to the chaos, stabilized Lola’s treatment plan, and helped us navigate some very stressful days with such kindness and patience. Even while we’re traveling abroad, she continues to guide us and make sure Lola stays safe and cared for. If you’re lucky enough to have Dr. Johnson involved in your pet’s life, hold onto her. She’s not just an exceptional veterinarian — she’s a blessing!
