How to Save Money at Meadowbrook Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dear Dr. Niyi & Staff, We are writing to express our immense gratitude for the extraordinary care you provided to our beloved cat, Claire. When we brought her to your clinic in distress, we were filled with anxiety and fear, but your compassion and expertise quickly turned our worry into hope. Your dedication and commitment to Claire's well-being were evident from the moment we stepped through your doors. The way you handled her with such gentleness and empathy was truly touching. You took the time to explain her condition to us in a way that was both clear and reassuring, and you patiently answered all our questions, no matter how many we had. We are especially grateful for your swift and decisive actions that undoubtedly saved Claire's life. Your skillful interventions and the care you provided during her treatment were nothing short of miraculous. Thanks to you, Claire is back to her playful and affectionate self, bringing joy and comfort to our family once again. It is not just your medical expertise that sets you apart, but also your genuine compassion and kindness. You made us feel like we were not just another case, but part of your extended family. For that, we are eternally grateful. Please know that you have our deepest appreciation and respect for the incredible work you do. Claire’s recovery is a testament to your exceptional talent and dedication. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Warmest regards, Debbi & Greg

Girls working upfront were great! They were helpful and kind and definitely loved all the animals coming through. Booked a first time appointment with a vet after we'd been buying prescription food there for awhile. The vet was so friendly! Had lots of good information for us, offered many solutions. They also let us see quotes before they proceeded with all of the recommended and necessary shots. Pic of their happy new patient

Edit: with the recent change of ownership and staff I am thrilled that professional competency, care and staff attitude has remained above standard. Very happy to remain a client. Meadowbrook has been my veterinarian clinic since 2013. I have a medically complicated dog to treat and they have always shown compassion, professional excellence and kindness towards all of my animals not just my sick dog. The staff are dedicated to animal welfare and advocate for non-adverse training. They try to educate pet owners about negative consequences of shock collars, prong and choke collars or other methods of negative treatment. Penny is an incredible behavioural trainer and a welcome source of information when needed

The staff at meadowbrook clinic were amazing! You can tell they dedicate their time to the care of animals so respectfully. We went in for two bad abscesses on our kitty . They took the time to access her , shave her , and give her the best treatment to heal. They don’t do treatment unless they ask you , and I love how I was told the quote for the treatments . So there is no surprises !! I’m so thankful for Yolanda and the doctor , they are so caring & we had a wonderful experience. I now have a designated vet clinic to go to and I know our pets will be in the best hands :)

Not sure about their care, but my dog seen another vet on our way back to Edmonton and said he will fax a prescription to this clinic so it will be ready when we come back, which is apparently a common practice. But not here ,the vet called me and said they will not be filling this prescription because he didn't see my dog so he will not fill. If I'd come for $300 he'd be happy to. What a money grabbing sham.
