How to Save Money at Spay Neuter Network

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I was so worried about getting my baby pumpkin spayed (because of bad experiences in the past with other facilities) but Spay Neuter Network took all those worries away. They offer such a wonderful service for the community and although the prices are extremely reasonable, depending on your zip code, it may turn out completely FREE like it did for me. The appointment was easy to book. I read all the directions carefully, made sure all the info was clearly written on my Cats carrier and ended up booking on what they call a cat day which came with the extra bonus of free vaccinations in addition to the free spaying and microchip. The staff answered all my questions and called me when pumpkin was done for me to come pick her up. My gal was fully alert and her incision was super small and neat. She had been in heat and we didn't even know it, yet her surgery was so professionally done, we experienced no complications! I paid for pain meds (only $15 for 2) just in case, but she only needed 1 and along with her little recovery suit I got from Amazon, she had a smooth recovery. If you need to get your cat, particularly female, fixed then look no further. They'll take care of everything 😸

A couple of weeks ago, I was running errands on a Saturday with a kitten my family member had recently found. Needless to say, now I had a new family member! While looking for a place to get my new fur baby, Riley, vaccinated, I came across the Spay Neuter Network at a local outdoor community fair. The staff was incredibly friendly and informative and they gave me a price list and explained that based on my ZIP code, the kitten qualified for free neutering. I applied online the same day, but did not hear anything about scheduling an appointment. I did have to make a few calls, but I was able to reach a live person this past Thursday and I was able to get a surgery appointment set up for the next week. I arrived early on the day of the appointment (which I recommend), and the check-in process was smooth despite the growing line. Staff handed out forms and promptly started bringing pets and their person inside. Everyone I interacted with was kind, patient, and thorough in explaining the procedure, optional services, and post-op care. I got a text in the afternoon letting me know the kitten was ready for pickup. The discharge process was just as smooth — they reviewed aftercare in detail, answered questions, and brought my kitten out promptly. It was a great experience. The Spay Neuter Network is doing important work for the community by offering affordable (and in some cases free) services to help reduce pet overpopulation. If you have a pet in need, definitely check them out. Your furry friend and the community will benefit. Riley says go to the spay neuter network. They are awesome!

Very grateful for the zip code grant. Be responsible and get your pets spayed & neutered. Don’t relinquish your pets to ACS to be killed, it should be a no- kill shelter -but it’s NOT! Please find loving homes for them instead! This beautiful girl is recovering well & staying inside, out of the heat. She wanted to lie on the grass outside. When she started to have pain by whining in a different way and tried to lick her spay surgical site, I gave her the 1st pain med she was sent home with. I am grateful for the care she received. & thank you for clipping her nails!

Friendly and very helpful. Sent us information on pre and post care for our dogs. Our pups came home and have had no issues after being spayed and neutered. We had one pup that was a bit aggressive and they let me go back to hold her while they gave her the shot so she can be spayed! They even went above and beyond to clean a small wound that she had on her side!

This location was wonderful! Super easy process to schedule online and very easy drop off. The drop off line was very efficient and the staff was very detailed in getting my cat checked in. I feel the staff was super caring and have really great after surgery care instructions. My cat is doing well and on the mend.
