How to Save Money at Peel Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It was fast and simple. We didn't get charged extra for my bird his wing was injured and we got his beak and nails trimmed. The doctor made sure he was comfortable and made my bird feel safe!

Please don’t bring your pets to this location. From the poor customer service and lack of compassion fro the receptionist. You can tell this place is a cash cow and that’s it. We have have several dogs In our family who have all been to this location because it’s local. And every time we leave feeling disappointed in the service or the care for our dogs. Once, my dying dog was prescribed hundreds of dollars worth of meds when they knew it couldn’t help. I brought my dog to Kennedy Rd veterinary clinic for a second opinion. They told me that wherever I was coming from was just stealing my money. Do not trust this facility to care about your dogs. It’s all a money grab. Please try and visit any other vet clinic in Brampton. This location is not recommended.

Money minded vet. My mom took my kitten to the vet for vomiting and they told us to take an unnecessary x-ray because the doctor lied and told us she had something stuck in her stomach.x_ray cost nearly $400. Thank God we didn't do the x ray and we save our money. My kitten is doing very well now and didn't have anything in her stomach. The doctor lied for money. If you want to go to this vet and they ask for an unnecessary x-ray, make sure it's actually need it.

Terrible vet. I wish i could give this place 0 stars. I recommend going to any other vet, BUT this one. They are so demanding for money. I brought my kitten I just adopted because she was vomiting. I only wanted to go because my kitten was young, and we were worried and just needed medicine even though we knew it was going to be expensive. But these no good money grabbing veterinary wanted to take unnecessary X-rays for a simple vomiting issue for a small kitten. I asked the no-good money obsessed unprofessional doctor to just give me the medicine. "Doctor" Sartaj Wazir had the audacity to ask me, "Are you the doctor or am I?" I knew all we needed was some medicine, but they kept pursuing into getting her an x-ray that she doesn't need. I know what's best for my pet, not him. THEY GIVE ESTIMATE price for the x-ray was nearly $400 for a small kitten. Like the bill wasn't going to be unaffordable. The consultation bill fee was $105, and the medicine was almost 5 mg of $23. Thank god I didn't take the X-ray, and I didn't give her that medicine, but my kitten is doing very well nowadays. Don't go to this veterinary. These people are money grabbers.

Haley and Sabrina are absolutely AMAZING to say the least. I came here to get my dog's vaccination shot and both of them truly went above and beyond to make sure that my dog was accommodated with comfort and love as if it was their own dog. The vet Dr is also the best there is. I’ve changed vets many times but this is the only vet Doctor I can say with confidence, handles every situation so professionally and with the most care. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this vet clinic. Thank you guys so much once again for providing me with the best service a pet owner could ask for!
