How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital Fort Lauderdale

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This was my first visit to BluePearl & luckily it was not for an emergency visit. I scheduled an appointment for dermatology for my 11 year old chihuahua who had a seemingly complicated skin disease. I rudely arrived a little late (bad rain & traffic) & I felt so bad about it, but they were still able to see me. The girls at the front were super nice when I got there & when I left. They were also amazing on the phone when I had to schedule this appointment (I was very flustered & stressed, but they were an amazing team up front). In my dermatology appointment, I met with Dr Kimberly Boyanowski, and I was not disappointed. She was very knowledgeable & kind, and I appreciated everything she did for my sick dog. I do highly recommend BluePearl Pet Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. ☺️

BluePearl has done an incredible job caring for my fur baby Louie. He ate a Queen Palm seed and needed not one, but three emergencies surgeries. It has been an incredibly emotional and tough couple of weeks for our family. Everyone that works at this hospital clearly loves their job and loves animals. Everyone has shown such compassion! Dr. Frame did a wonderful job keeping me calm as I am 7 months pregnant and going through all of this with my dog. He was confident with the surgery and kept me informed. Roxanne has been the absolute best nurse and I really feel like her attitude and soul had a huge part in his care. I can’t thank this clinic enough for everything they had done to keep fighting for my sweet Louie! Unfortunately he went septic and we had to put him down. However, Roxanne was truly amazing with this process from an emotional standpoint. She was absolutely meant to do this career!

Update: I would also like to add that we did physical therapy after my pup had zoomies and was limping post surgery. We did the therapy with Dr. Medina and her assistant Anna and they were so amazing and magical workers. My pup was walking so much better after just the first sessions. Both were so nice and caring with my pup and you can see they truly love what they do and care about your pup. Thank you so much! Dr. Frame and his staff are absolutely incredible! My pup was born with a luxating patella and I dreaded the day that surgery would be needed. After she was limping every day I knew I had to do my research and so I consulted with orthopedic surgeon Dr Frame and made the decision to preform her surgery. It was the best decision ever! They took such great care of my baby, gave me updates, answered all my questions before, during and after surgery and the nursing staff really treated her like their own. They really love what they do there and take care of the animals. Every time I called, I was able to talk to someone who gave me every update. My pups scar healed so quick and she’s been walking and recovering so well - better than expected. I give all credit to her quick recovery to Dr. Frame and his team for doing great work on fixing the issue and after care. They made sure she wasn’t in pain and gave great instructions on her recovery. Follow ups were easy and they show that they genuinely really care about pups. Dr. Frame is a true professional and really great at what he does. Thank you so much!

BluePearl put my little 11lb, 7 year 7 month old Jettie with respiration pneumonia in an oxygen chamber straightaway. If not caught in time it could be deadly. In ICU they gave her exceptional care, monitoring hourly as well as keeping an eye on her throughout. They administered the two strong antibiotics by IV and orally respectively. They were so kind to her. She had to stay in that chamber for 2 nights. Finally, her oxygen level stabilized and I could bring my precious darling home. Upon discharge, they taught me how to use an app to monitor her “at rest” breaths per minute, as well as suggesting she breathe the moist air in my bathroom when the shower got it steamy to help break up the congestion, keep her away from other dogs for 2 weeks, and do not walk her or cause exertion. I’m sure they saved her life.

I called to make an appointment for my dog Lady because she has a mucocele in her gallbladder. They were very professional and kind on the phone and I was able to get an appointment the very next day. Dr. Frame in his surgical assistant spent a lot of time explaining her situation and what was best for her moving forward. I’ve had previous experience with Blue Pearl Vet Hospital. they are a great team of caregivers. I can’t really say enough about them.
