How to Save Money at NewDay Veterinary Care Bonita Springs

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff and Dr are great but quick warning about their wellness plan do NOT get it. I get constant reminders of my cat even though she is no longer with me and when I compare my bills from before it to after it. The yearly costs(totals) were the same. Money was not saved. They helped with my Lancelot and most recently Willow. They help her cross over the rainbow bridge and let me grieve and have enough time to say goodbye. She was 18 and had been going to this clinic since 2021 when we first moved her. Thank you Doctor Adlerstein and staff for helping Willow cross over.

This is a follow-up to my previous one-star review, and I am absolutely enraged. After trusting NewVet, we went to a second vet for a real evaluation. They told us the hookworm treatment was completely mishandled, it should have been a three-day period with a check in a month. Instead, you over medicated her, and we had to pay another $400 for proper care. I am beyond disappointed. Summer was not cared for at all like you claimed. When we brought her back for her second appointment, we asked for a doctor, but instead, we were given a vet tech who just sat there and kept saying, ‘I can’t help you, I can’t help you.’ If you are supposed to be a vet, you are supposed to help our cats, and you failed us. Summer was stressed, and you did nothing to guide us or give us advice on calming her. This is a major failure, and it is very concerning. I expect the owner to contact me immediately. Do not go here. When we brought our cat to a different vet, they also sat in there for an hour and a half helping us come up with plans to keep my cat calm at night instead of brushing yourself like your Vet did. The new vet said she needed x-rays and testing done of her stomach because the ball inside of her stomach was never fully healed. It just was infected and she needed surgery. You guys did not put my cat care first you put money first and you put your vets first and to back off of what I said about my other cat you guys did not give her a sedative to calm her down. You guys looked at her and said if my mom held her, you guys would give her the shot your doctor was not very nice. The only nice one was jade loved her, She was very open to hearing my problems and trying to come up with solutions, but no one else wanted to help me get my cat comfortable at night. I would never recommend this Vet to nobody and everyone that I know that was going to this, Vet has pulled their pets out of it. if you guys can’t handle anxious pets you guys should not be a vet or you guys should hire a new vet tech and vet doctors. you guys made my cat scared of vets. I don’t know what you guys did behind that door when you guys were trying to get her blood by poking her multiple times but you guys traumatized my cat and I don’t appreciate that.

We scheduled surgery two weeks in advance for our dog to have two masses removed that were actively causing him issues. We booked flights and made arrangements around this procedure. The day before surgery, we were called and told it was canceled because their only surgical tech called out. While I understand emergencies happen, canceling a planned surgery with less than 24 hours’ notice, especially one that required travel planning and time off — was extremely frustrating. There were also multiple scheduling errors leading up to this. We received a call about a boarding appointment we never booked, and at one point they attempted to cancel a bloodwork appointment that we did have scheduled. After the surgery was canceled, I requested a refund for the deposit and asked to cancel everything. Since then, we have continued receiving calls and texts about an appointment the following week that we never scheduled. Although this was a bad experience I would like to say Dr Alderstein and her Vet Tech were both amazing each time we were seen. Very informative and caring. The lack of organization and communication added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation involving our dog’s health. I hope they improve their scheduling systems and reliability for future clients.

I am beyond frustrated with this pet clinic. We reached out because one of my cats had a severely infected stomach, and on top of that, she’s been meowing constantly at night. We were desperate for real help, but they brushed it off as a behavioral issue, which it absolutely was not. When we asked for other options, the staff got an attitude, as if we were just a bother. They didn’t even do a proper exam when they gave my other cat a shot, we had to hold her ourselves because they couldn’t handle her. Yet, despite this bare minimum care, we were forced to pay for a full exam, including blood work, even though all they did was glance at her, give one shot, and take a stool sample. Afterward, they never called to check in on her once they gave her antibiotics they just disappeared all week. When I called with simple questions, they actually laughed in my face, and one of the vet techs was even laughing when I asked about other options to help her calm down at night. It was just so unprofessional. When we paid for a doctor visit, the doctor never even came in they just sent a tech. When they brought my cat back, she was meowing nonstop, running straight to me she’s normally so friendly, but she didn’t want that tech anywhere near her. And when we brought in my other cat, the doctor was scared and didn’t want to touch her at all. We had to hold our cat so they could give the shot, and again, they said they couldn’t help us. We still had to pay the full price, even though the care was minimal, and it was absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I would never recommend them to anyone this whole ordeal was a complete waste of time
