Amazing customer service

Before filling out the online forms I called the customer service number provided on their website and spoke briefly to a customer service representative. She was extremely nice and patient explaining to me every single detail of what the options were, what the plans covered, the prices, etc. The prices were excellent and the coverage plans are really good compared to alot of other companies. Filling out the online form was done in about 10 minutes and was very easy to understand. Loved my experience with my enrollment and definitely looking forward to testing out my coverage at my local vet clinic!

Will scam you.

They claim they are the best provider but god they have made so many mistakes it’s not even funny. They twist words and provide you the wrong information on your plan, payment, and other details. Had to go through BBB with my proof to get them to fix it. I paid thousands in monthly fees yet they never paid a Penny of my dogs vet bills. Once they fixed my plan and their original mistakes they refused to back date unless I paid over a thousand dollars extra and made us go through waiting periods again months and months after we’ve had the plan. Mistakes made left right and center it was disgusting- my vets go to make an appeal as they were not fixing the issues they created and trupanion advised them not to. Faking pre existing conditions for one of my dogs months after we got trupanion bevause they didn’t want to pay out, telling my vet not to appeal and leave it. Refusing the proof of all our vet records proving they do not have these pre existing conditions. My vet office is working hard and has been for weeks to fix it for me with paperwork as they have never had such a pathetic issue with trupanion. We say these visits are for the same issue as last time and they make us pay a new deductible for each visit so they don’t pay out or cover ANYTHING. YET Still advised my vet not to appeal. Seems like a scam and their customer service is a joke always using pre recorded useless messages. Wouldn’t recommend starting a new plan with them at all if you can similar or same pricing somewhere else. Be aware of these issues and do not let them scam you.

Trupanion has made my life with Raidyn so much easier

Trupanion has made my life with Raidyn so much better. My little Himy is such a happy go lucky boy, even though I felt something was wrong in his early years. After much testing it was found he had severe allergies which contributed to him, having severe IBD (which is painful). In the beginning many years ago, you had to pay the vet's and await the cheque, then they made it easier by sending the cheques to the vet's so you just paid out the taxes, and what was not covered. Then they came onboard with Direct Pay..Wow, so much easier for us human parents and the vet hospitals who did insurance. I was able to use my energy to be a cat-mom/nurse. Raidyn is thriving still at the age of 14 yrs soon. Unfortunately his vet retired and we had moved to a different community where it seems none of the vet hospitals do insurance claims? (dark ages) But trupanion came through for me when I had to do the claims myself and even though it takes a bit longer for me to do the paperwork, i get the Direct pay and it helps keeps us financially more stable. I still worry bout end of life and am hopeful I will find a vet hospital close enough that will take that burden off my shoulders a bit.

You have been great to deal with ever since our girl Storm an American Pitbull Terrier who needed your help when she was only a few months old.

You have been great to deal with ever since our girl Storm, an American Pitbull Terrier who needed your help when she was only a few months old. The day we needed to bring her to the vet was the day our membership kicked in, Storm was diagnosed with environmental or food allergies, and since then she has probably experienced every single kind of non life threatening issue that you could think of. Storm also required a bilateral CCL TPLO surgery in 2019. It was an estimated $12,000, before aftercare. Without Trupanion we would have been in a hard spot, we would have needed to sell everything we could to fix her legs. Since then my girlfriend and I have shared our story and advocated for people to pursue your services. Just this year my mother in law's golden retriever tore her CCL and now requires surgery as well, without having it she would not be able to afford a cast for her leg or to get the surgery. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for saving the quality of life for our girl Storm.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
