My dog was admitted to ER and a claim…

My dog was admitted to ER and a claim was processed for 1500$. It took less than a minute for it to be approved and paid. My dog was then transferred to the ICU and the bill after 1 day came up to 2900$. Again less than a minute and ot was approved. For anyone out there looking to get an insurance for your dog or cat... dont cheap out Trupanion is worth every penny.

monthly fee doubled in 1 year without even using it

2023: Very disappointed. I'm in my first year. I took out the insurance when my pet was a baby and I trusted the advertising that they wouldn't make absurd increases. But I've just received an email informing me that my monthly fee is going up from 55$ to 90$. This is complete nonsense, a lack of sense. It's almost double the amount for a pet that's a year and a bit old. Imagine when it's 8, 9 years old. Prepare your pockets, friends. When I called customer service, they told me that they had studied my pet's breed and had to change the price. If they hadn't done this before, do I have to pay? I don't even know if an increase of this level is legally possible, but I'm going to do some research to make sure they're not infringing on my rights as a consumer. Update 2024 : I'm updating my comment to say that I've continued with them but once again the price has gone up absurdly after a year. In two years, the monthly fee has gone from 50 to 110 and the only reason it hasn't gone up is because I've increased the franchise. I've never used the insurance and nothing justifies it. I canceled my insurance and put my pet on pet plus us, which I already had for another pet and which never increased by more than 15$ even though I used it a lot.

Very please with Trupanion

I am pleased with their professionalism, and genuine concern for my puppy that needed surgery. She was only a puppy and I was concerned they would not cover anything, but they did cover what I see as a generous amount. I thank them for that. Unexpected pet expenses are difficult to manage and their help with payment made it that much easier.

It’s not transparent- they have never helped us and it’s a rip off. You’re better off self insuring.

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
