My 4 month old puppy got very ill and was hospitalized for a total of 3 nights. This was very stressful and as you can imagine, the vet bills started to rack up. Submitting the claims was extremely easy. After submitting my first invoice, I needed to contact customer service (for an issue on my end) and I recieved support immediately and my issue was resolved within minutes by a very kind and helpful customer service representative. Before all my claims were approved, I calculated how much I thought should be approved and was relieved when I got notice of approval and it worked out to be what I calculated. Nothing is hidden, everything that is covered and not covered is very transparent. I am very thankful for Trupanion for giving me peace of mind that I will be able to get my sweet puppy the medical care she needs without the need to worry about finances. I love that I could adjust the premium/deductible to find what worked for me and the fact that I can increase my deductible and lower my premium at a later time if I find the premiums difficult to manage. Also, I love the fact that the premiums will not go up as she ages and will only go up due to inflation. If you are thinking of getting a puppy, I recommend you consider going with Trupanion. Get it before any health conditions arise so that there are no pre-existing conditions and everything is covered.

I have read a lot of reviews. I have seen the low rating and the high rating reviews. I am troubled by the low rating and the outcry by some owners, whom I believe are great owners that are frustrated. On 2022/04/25 my Shiba, who is 12, had another allergy treatment which was 90% covered. A gentleman asked me how my experience was and I said I was only denied one claim for a luxating patella that was flagged prior to insurance. Ever since then it has been easy. He told me his experience being a little turbulent and I asked if he adopted an older dog, which he said yes to. His dog was 6. For anyone that gets a middle aged dog, understand there is a good possibility there are preexisting conditions. For anyone complaining about the premiums...it is a business. Nothing is cheap. You are hoping that you can be like the 70% of us that don't have anything major occur....and want it to be cheap. For those that experience large bills, the insurance pays off. That is why it is called insurance. If you think you are paying too much, but never get use out of the insurance then you have been fortunate and done your pet a great service. I paid diligently for years with very little to claim. I have made over $5k of claims since October of 2020. I have never had a hassle and haven't had to talk to anyone. My vet submitted claims and my dog received treatment. There is a mindset of setting aside money every month. That is a very thoughtful and responsible thing to do. As I wrote before, this is insurance. You are hoping to be part of the general 70%. In the event that you are in the 30%....and you have something that's not pre-existing like cancer or getting hit by a car, then that also gives you something to think about. I am thankful for the care my dear companion dog is receiving. I know she is getting up there in age and I am beside myself knowing our timeline together is narrowing. My experience with Trupanion is they took cost out of the equation for top notch care. This has increased the quality of my beloved best friends life as she heads into her final chapter.
