Totally Worth It!

My dog is big (100lbs) and getting older. I figured SOMEthing's going to happen sooner or later so I looked into insurance. I picked Trupanion because it seemed pretty straightforward. 8 months after I enrolled, my dog had a life-threatening emergency and ended up in ICU at the animal hospital. I was out of the state when it happened, and when I got the call from the hospital asking what I wanted to do should he need the $3600 emergency surgery... I felt so relieved that I could without a doubt say 'yes, please do it'. It was stressful enough worrying about my best buddy's health from 2300 miles away! He didn't end up having the surgery, but the tab still managed to be $1700 for all they had to do & his night in the ICU. I paid the deductible, exam fees, & 10% of the remaining amount so my part was $570. Trupanion sent me a check for $1130, which was $1130 I didn't have to cover! My dog is recovering and I am not worried about paying off thousands of dollars. The claim was simple and Trupanion had great communication with me throughout the process. Now dog insurance doesn't seem so 'crazy' to my friends. :)

Efficient, friendly,

Our labradoodle Louis suffered an acl injury.After a consultation with a specialist it was decided an operation was necessary. This is a complicated surgery and a long recovery but the prognosis is good. We went through a lot of stress with the operation and now into recovery. It has all been hard although the medical people were wonderful and the operation appears to have been worth the pain, not to mention the expense. Trupanion have been excellent, that was one area that was stress free and painless. They answered our claim form immediately upon receiving and the money was in our hands within days. We would strongly recommend Trupanion and we have to whoever wants to listen to our story.

Trupanion has saved my dog's life

I selected Trupanion insurance for my white German Sheperd, SnowBear, when he was 10 1/2 and I glad I did. He had always been very healthy. Literally two months after he was insured, his groomer found a tumor by his adrenal gland when she was checking him over. It turned out to be cancerous, in fact a very aggresive form of cancer. My vet said to get him operated in immediately. The surgeon said if we had not done that SnowBear would be gone in 90 days. You can imagine my relief at having Trupanion to cover the costs of this (surgery alone was about $3,500. Then he may need radiation treatment (thankfully he did not) and chemotherapy (he did). This was also covered at the 90% rate by Trupanion, along with all the blood work, ultrasounds and xrays which continue to this day. SnowBear has finished his first round of chemotherapy and they believe he is now cancer free. They want to continue some chemotherapy and all that that entails for some time period just to be sure. For now, though SnowBear appears to be cancer free! SnowBear is alive thanks in large part to Trupanion helping with the expenses. They have been wonderful so far from my perspective.

Best product out there - hands down

Trupantion has been supporting the care of my dog - Kalu - for around 7 months now. He is a great little pit, and has been struggling with right sided heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. This has required A LOT of diagnostic processes and A LOT of ongoing medicine, and Trupaion has been a great company to work with throughout. They really don't penalize their clients for making the right medical decisions for their animals, and that is very impressive. Thank you Trupanion!

Amazing insurance company

Trupanion is truly a lifesaver. My 15 month old dog began limping badly a couple months after I took out a policy with Trupanion. He was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and needed operations on both of his hips. Luckily, I had paid for the hip dysplasia amendment. Thanks to Trupanion, he had his first operation three weeks ago. He will have his second surgery in a coupe of weeks. We could not have afforded to provide these operations for our dog without financial help. Trupanion has been paying 90% of all costs of this operation and we are forever grateful. Initially, they looked at all of his medical records and determined that his condition was not pre-existing. Since then, all claims we have put in have been approved in a matter of two days. Checks have come as promised and in time to pay off our credit card. The only things that I feel is lacking is that they don't pay for physical therapy. I can understand not paying for alternative medicine, but physical therapy is very needed after extreme orthopedic surgery. The price of physical therapy is out of our reach. Again, though, we are so grateful that Trupanion came to our rescue and saved our dog's life. The staff is wonderful, all angels. They are an honest company and do what they advertise without any hassle.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
