Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). So glad I switched to Trupanion
I switched insurer's due to lack of coverage from my previous insurer. Not only have I gotten TOP NOTCH coverage - the service is unbelievable. Never before did I get an email asking me if my girl was feeling better.

An honest and reliable company
Every time I submit a claim it is handled timely and fairly. After denying a claim for a major surgery the company performed an extensive review and reversed their original decision in our favor. The employees are knowledgeable and courteous. I am most impressed with this company

Easy, Efficient, EXCELLENT!
I have my 2 Papillons insured with Trupanion. I tell every single person I know about this insurance. I would never have a pet without insuring it with Trupanion. The people there are so easy to work with, the company is efficient and as an animal lover, having this insurance takes the pressure of the high cost of veterinary care off my mind while I am busy caring for a sick pet. One of my dogs had serious eye surgery, hospitalization and medication which cost thousands of dollars, my claim was handled very quickly. I never had to call follow up on submitted claims -- they just take care of everything. The BEST!

We're very satisfied!
Milo jumped out of our daughter's arms and fractured his left hind leg. The vet had to put a pin in the bone and the bill would have been 1700.00. We were very happy and willing to pay the $250 deductible and only 170.00 of the bill!

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
