Pretty good for the most part

Our 1 year old Great Dane has been insured with Trupanion since she was about 6months old. In the last few months we've been trying to figure out what was wrong with her back (she was walking funny)... after xrays, an MRI, spinal fluid testing, and more we still had no definitive answers. We were able to get all these tests done though with the help of Trupanion and knowing they would cover 90% of our claims (excluding vet exam fees). It's been a lifesaver. And they always process our claims very quickly. The one thing that prevents me from giving them a higher rating is they do not cover holistic medicine and that seems to be the only thing that's helping her (even the neurologist said he had no clue what was wrong and a holistic vet may be the answer). Chiropractic and acupuncture have helped her walk better. I just wish Trupanion covered her visits.

Peace of mind is worth the cost...

I have had Trupanion insurance on my 12 year old greyhound for about 6 months or so now. She had what appeared to be a slight seizure about 2 months ago and I took her right in to have her checked out. Our vet did a full blood work up on her (which thankfully came back as perfect) and I nervously submitted my first claim to Trupanion. After faxing the claim and her records to them I received a confirmation the very next day saying they were processing the claim. The day after that I received an email saying that the claim had been processed and the check was in the mail! I was shocked! The check indeed showed up just a few days later and I am convinced that this company is for real. The peace of mind it gives me that I have good insurance on my Sweetie Pie is worth more than I can say. Thanks Trupanion!

Well Worth The Cost

Two years ago, my uninsured cat sustained some internal injuries while playing outside and the resulting operation cost me $5000. Soon after, I got Trupanion insurance and once again the unexpected happened and my cat started urinating blood for a sustained period of time. The resulting vet costs, so far $600, have been nearly completely covered thanks to my insurance. My cat is able to have access to the best medical care available without me stressing during this difficult economic time. There is no limit on the cost of an individual claim, something few other insurance companies can match. Also, I pay very little as I have no deductible and only a 10% coinsurance all at $22/month. Trupanion is by far the best pet insurance company out there and I highly recommend them. Their staff is friendly and clearly devoted towards pets and their process time is less than 1 week. Given the skyrocketing costs of healthcare, this is a no-brainer.

Not very happy, with our Ins.

We have had Trupanion Dog pet insurance, for about one year. As stated above we are not happy, and we are considering changing Ins. company's. We have filed about six clams and they have only paid for two. They state that our dog had a preexisting ear infection, that is true but it was almost nine months ago. I ask them if they where going to do this for ever, after all it was a long time ago, and they stated if it was preexisting yes. So be very care full if your animal has a preexisting problem.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
